Learn about real international spies through out history and the unbreakable code? Enigma? I'm sure you havent heard much about Enigma but it could of cost a major war, WWII. How about common codes in general or encryptions? Learning when someone's following you, gather your own fingerprints, create your own mirrored shades....hmmm? There is so much more I have not touched on yet, but my young 'want to be spy', do you have what it takes? Very real information gathered together, some we use everyday, some advancing, but learn all about the great spies of history, the technological advances, and to be able to do it yourself andown see where it takes you.When you open 'How To Be A International Spy-Your top secret guide to espionage' by Andy Briggs the book takes you through first as a recruit and as you move forward and advance through your readings learn about different types of spies, real spies, the wars through history WWII andthe cold war your training begins! This book had all the bells and whistles, from the history of spies and I mean real honest to goodness, 'spies.' Can you believe it, spying comes from around 1274 B.C.? Spies in the bible? Yep, Moses sending out spies to check the land ahead. Don't believe me? Read the book. You will meet real spies you know secret agents risking their lives, some faced the firing squad, executed. The Great War, World War II, Cold War, spying ran rampant with ingenious ways of sending secret communications. Can you believe slogans & posters were printed with the importance of keeping secrets, one poster said, "Loose Lips Sink Ships." All kinds of Intelligence types, from Human Intelligence-personal contacts, Signal Intelligence-phone calls, electronic, satellite radio communications, Geospatial Intelligence-aerial drones, satellite images. Well there's more but I'm afraid I had to stop because if I kept writing down all the Intelligences my fingers will cramp up. C.I.A., F.B.I., D.I.A., O.S.S., N.S.A., okay what's up with the acronyms. There's seventeen Intelligence gathering agencies in the U.S. (okay I got U.S.) Would you rather say, "Central Intelligence Agency?" What skills you can develop to become the ultimate spy? Tailing people? Puzzle-solver? That's a fraction of it. Allied countries information is shared, cipher, codes and the art of hiding messages. Another part I found interesting and fun, 'tracking.' footprint signs, fingerprints, forensics, scent trails. Oh you can mask your scent from sniffer dogs, want to know how? Read the book. Oh another thing, Mind-Bending Encryption, encrypt a message by using a secret key. Simple substitution cipher replace a letter with a number. What? Read the book. Polybius Code? Decrypt double-coded message, huh? Using lemon juice and grape juice to write and retrieve the message, you know what I'm going to say, right? I thoroughly enjoyed this well written book with oodles of information. It caused my mind to wander and vastly imagine what if? Children will absorb every single word and detail this book has to offer. Especially the parts where it shows you how to make a Periscope and A Finger Printing Kit and a Night Vision Light.
