Stone The integrity of the Holy Bible, as in, an accurate translation, has always been very important to me. Knowing that the Divine Name has been removed from most Bibles, almost 7,000 times, seems like such an insult to our Grand Creator, Jehovah. In a prayer, given by Jesus Christ to his father, and recorded at John chapter 17, he stated in verse 6, "I have made your name manifest" and again in verse 26, " I have made your name known". Very few people today know what that name, that Jesus held in such high esteem, is. This Divine Name King James Version of the Bible has restored that name as found in the original manuscripts of the Bible. It is nice to know that Bible scholars other than Jehovah's Witnesses have recognized the value and importance of that Divine Name, Jehovah, and have restored it to it's rightful place in the Holy Scriptures

Heroic Children:Untold Stories of the Unconquerable, by Hanoch Teller

Review Rabbi Hanoch Teller's Heroic Children is unique in its uncanny ability to present to the reader the terror and the valor, the torment and the benevolence, that were all part of the Holocaust. By telling the courageous and heart-thumping stories of nine children, Rabbi Teller has created the perfect means to convey the history of this period in a way that is mesmerizing and cannot be forgotten.Aside from Rabbi Hanoch Teller's authorship of an exceptional library of very popular books, he is one of the most in-demand docents and lecturers at Yad Vashem, recognized as a scholar of the period... Writing about the Holocaust is a noble act and an invaluable tribute to the souls and the memory of the murdered saints and martyrs. Heroic Children is as dignified and as venerable as this act can be. --Rabbi Israel Meir Lau, former Chief Rabbi of Israel, Chairman of Yad VashemWe cannot change the past, but by remembering it, we can change the future. On no issue is this more vital than the Holocaust, all the more so since the survivors are growing older and fewer, while anti-Semitism, almost unblievably, has returned to the arena of global politics. This makes Rabbi Hanoch Teller's masterpiece, Heroic Children, a necessary work as well as an outstanding one. It is an astonishing collection of stories about child survivors of the Shoah, each gripping narrative of courage, defiance and hope, a flame lit by the human spirit in the darkest night history has ever known. A superb and unforgettable work! --Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks, Emeritus Chief rabbi of the United KindgdomFor the stories in Heroic Children, conveyed so poignantly and accurately, Hanoch Teller has put all of the students of the Holocaust- and of the human condition- in his debt --Sir Martin Gilbert, Distinguished historian and official biographer of Winston Churchill

About the Author Known worldwide as the King of the Storytellers, Rabbi Hanoch Teller is a prolific author whose critically-acclaimed books (28, at last count) have sold more than 300,000 copies and are translated into five languages. The aptly-named storyteller and award-winning journalist has also written hundreds of articles that have been published in numerous newspapers and periodicals. His works have been praised for their captivating prose, painstaking research and pedagogic value, as well as their tender, profound insights into the human condition. For decades, Hanoch Teller has also been a sought-after guide at the Yad Vashem's Holocaust History Museum in Jerusalem. His sweeping scholarship and sensitivity, and uncanny gift for conveying history through personal stories, transform the infinite banality of horror into an intensely personal encounter that participants declare life-changing and unforgettable. It is this background that led to his latest and most universally celebrated book, Heroic Children.

From the Back Cover

By the time she was thirteen years old, Laura Ingalls had moved from the green Wisconsin woods to the wide-open Kansas prairie, out to the fertile Minnesota plains, and finally to a brand-new town at the end of a railroad line in Dakota Territory. True pioneers, Laura and her family faced everything from severe droughts and bone-chilling winters to crop failures and grasshopper invasions in their long search for a new life on land of their own. Laura went on to write the classic Little House series, drawing inspiration from the real events of her childhood on the American frontier.

Ever since Little House in the Big Woods was published in 1932, readers of all ages have been eager to learn more about Laura Ingalls Wilder. At the heart of this keepsake volume are nine chapters centered around the Little House books, each exploring in detail the stories, houses, landscapes, journeys, food, activities, and crafts in each story. Maps, family trees, photographs, recipes, and a timeline round out the history of Laura and her family. Laura's real life was sometimes different from the life she wrote about in her books, and those differences are described here along with a chapter about her adult life and how she came to write the Little House series.

Meticulously researched, lovingly written, and beautifully illustrated, The World of Little House is for anyone who has ever read and loved the Little House books.

Lindeman The World of Little House is an excellent book about the history of the "Pioneer Girl", Laura Ingalls Wilder. Deborah Maze and Garth Williams did a wonderful job of illustrating the book with beautiful pictures. This book includes "How to Make Projects" such as Laura and Mary's Nine-Patch Quilt Squares along with "How to Make Recipes" such as Molasses-on-Snow Candy. Besides telling about Laura's life, the book includes interesting topics of what it was like to live in the 1860's through the 1940's. Such topics include information on general stores, prairie schools, covered wagons, medicine and housekeeping on the prairie. If you like Laura Ingalls Wilder, you must buy this book. It will be money well spent!

22 of 24 people found the following review helpful. Charming Book By A Customer This charming book is a must for Little House addicts. The partial family tree is interesting (though did Grandpa Ingalls really give two of his children the same first name? That struck me as odd). The book contains lots of recipes and activities, and a nice summary of the Ingall's family travels.A few minor caveats, however:Except for a brief introduction and the timeline at the end, the book follows the LH books, NOT Laura's actual life. So it isn't all factually accurate.WHile a few of the "Little Houses" still exist, most are long gone. So the author's floor plans are imaginary, and they don't always follow the descriptions in the books. (For example, when Pa added the bedrooms onto the claim shanty at the beginning of "Little Town on the Prairie", Laura describes it as "building the other half of the house," meaning, to my mind, that the rooms should have been side by side; the same size as the original shanty room. THe author here shows them as being one behind the other, and taking up only half the legnth of the shanty.)The recipes, while interesting, seem less historically accurate than the ones in the "Little House Cookbook." (Almanzo's "Long Winter" pancakes probably wouldn't have had eggs in them.)And there are a few other minor factual errors, both in relation to Laura's real life and to her life as portrayed in the books.Still a very worthwhile purchase for anyone interested in the book series.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. A must-read for any Laura Ingalls Wilder fan! By A Customer Of all the books written about Laura, this is definately my favorite! It is very fascinating. If you read it, you'll probably learn alot of stuff about Laura you never knew before. There are nine chapters that tell about each of the nine books Laura wrote. I think the greatest part of this book is the floor-plans in it. The book also includes crafts and recipes. And, at the end of each chapter it tells in more detail about highlights of the book (at the end of Little House in the Big Woods chapter it tells about general stores.) Some other good things are the Ingalls, Quiner, and Wilder family trees

Too many sentences that needed the "" to start and close a conversation. And don't get me started in the POV. It kept bouncing making me dizzy. Definitely should be better edited and re-written to make the story flows.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Fast, fun read! Loved it!!! By Denise Keef Having read the first book in this series, Emma Brewster Too Hot To Handle in the Brewster Witches series, I was very excited when book two came out! As with all of Mary Moriarity’s books, once I start reading them, I can’t stop until I’m finished and this was no exception! This is a fun and light story about Emma’s cousin who retired from the Army and was looking to become a police officer in the town of Cadwell Harbor in Maine. She knows she has a special power that allows her to “see” insurgents while on active duty and wants to find out from her family how to develop them. The fun really begins when Emma’s husband Cas’ cousin, James O’Halloran also comes to live in Cadwell Harbor. With a wonderful cast of characters, many of my favorites from the first book like Aunt Ernestine and her colorful coven members and Emma’s cats who also have powers, this book will definitely keep you laughing and wondering how it will all turn out! Add to the whole mix some very shady men who are up to know good, a few very ”hot” love scenes and many laugh out loud moments you are sure to enjoy this fun…light book written by the very talented Mary Moriarity as only she can tell the tale of the Brewster witches in such a delightful way! This is a must add to your library to read and just forget life for a while!

Fun, light hearted, upbeat story, with all the ingredients needed to make it a book you just can't put down..Susanna and James, Emma and Cas, Aunt Ernistine and her coven..and we can't forget the ghosts and cats are a wonderful mix that makes this book terrific..Mary is such a great storyteller. She writes the story so it flows easily, lots of cheeky talk (which I love) always a great story line..(you know the books where you say ...just one more page and before you know it it's 2am in the morning and you are getting sad because you know your almost done?!?! Defending the Christian faith by demonstrating its reality Relational Apologetics is about your life becoming a defense of the Christian faith. Every relationship you have is an opportunity for you to connect people to their creator by displaying your hope, both in word and deed. Defending your faith is not just about answering questions and proving that God exists. It is about showing that He is real by the way you live. It is about demonstrating the power of God through your holiness. And it is about drawing people to Jesus through your kindness. Using stories and drawing on personal experiences, Sherrard teaches the importance of holiness, treating skeptics with respect, engaging in authentic conversations instead of shouting matches, and having well thought out answers to the skeptic s questions. The book doesn t delve deeply into the scientific and philosophical arguments for the existence of God and the validity of Christianity. Rather, it provides solid, simple, and easily remembered reasons why one should believe in each. It will also teach essential relational skills that are necessary for talking to skeptics and maintaining healthy relationships with them.

Relational Apologetics: Defending the Christian Faith with Holiness, Respect, and Truth, by Michael Sherrard

Review "I wish every believer would read this book. Relational Apologetics challenges, convicts, and equips us to lovingly reach out to people with the gospel and to live as the kind of humble and gracious apologists Jesus wants us to be. This will officially be one of the top books I recommend for those who really want to make a difference." (Sean McDowell, PhD, Biola University professor, speaker, and author 2015-06-27)"All too often, our approach to Christian case making (apologetics) relies heavily on 'case making' but less so on Christian character. As an evidentialist, I do believe the facts and evidences for Christianity are critically important, but I also know cases are lost when prosecutors and communicators fail to develop a relationship with their jury. Michael Sherrard has a pastoral heart and an evidential mind. He understands the critical role our personal lives have in communicating the gospel and he’s written a book to help others grasp the importance of our relationships when making the case for what we believe." (J. Warner Wallace, cold-case detective, and author of Cold-Case Christianity and God's Crime Scene 2015-06-27)"Evangelism simply is Relational Apologetics. Sherrard's new book clearly explains the Christian approach to sharing your hope in Jesus. It‘s a must-read for everyone who loves God and people." (Andy Steiger, director of Apologetics Canada 2015-06-27)"Relational Apologetics is a much-needed work that I heartily endorse. This book not only tackles the major challenges to faith but also illustrates how apologetics should be done--with humility and respect. Michael Sherrard's unpretentious style and proletarian approach is ideal for those who lack the academic prowess required by many scholarly works in Christian apologetics. His book draws on the conviction, exemplified in the lives of Jesus and the apostles, that apologetics, as pre-evangelism, is most effective when it is done relationally." (D. Scott Henderson, PhD, associate professor of philosophy and apologetics, Luther Rice College 2015-06-27)

About the Author Michael Sherrard is the director of Ratio Christi College Prep and preaching pastor for Crosspoint Community Church. Mike makes the subjects of Apologetics and witnessing blend into a straight forward, easy to read, and easy to use resource for any believer. You don't have to be a scholar with a fancy degree to relate God's love to those around you and Mike gives you a framework to speak what you know to those who are seeking answers to life's most asked questions. You need to read this book.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. A good reminder for those who witness apologetically By Robert D. Patton This book emphasizes the relational aspects of witness in the power of the Holy Spirit, and the need for a holy life. Often we look to better arguments, and leave God out of the picture. We also look at others as competitors to beat rather than individuals with personal needs. This is the strength of this book, and a good reminder to us.

Robyn Wideman however is one of those few. He's one of the few Author's in this genre today who seems to "get it"; that is... You do NOT need smut, foul language, and bigoted diatribes targeting Christians, and traditional morés to sell books! Some have labeled his writing "clichéd": I fail to see it. True, he does follow the general template of any good "coming of age" story; but that is to be expected. Otherwise, his characters are fresh, interesting, and 3 dimensional.I especially appreciate the way he masterfully included a romantic element without become pornographic about it. Well done, sir.As a Grand-parent, I heartily recommend it as "child safe", and will surely look for the sequels to come.Thank you Robyn Wideman for restoring some of my faith in SF/Fantasy Writers!

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Cliched, predictable, and needs editing By Amazon Customer I gave the first book 3 stars, but it doesn't get more predictable than this. The dialogue was worse and unoriginal. In the first book Nathan was unique due to his blood lines, now the remaining survivors of Elderwood are all super mages as strong or stronger than the mages in the land of magic or super warriors with little training. Won't read the the next one.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Good but not quite as good as the first By FallenFree The story was good but not as exciting as the first. The quality of the writing degraded a bit overall and was even worse by the end. Either the author enlisted less skilled help or was half asleep when writing. In addition, the details and depth that made the first book interesting were lacking here, seemingly in exchange for a more fast-paced story at the end. I assume this was the author's attempt to pick up the pace after it lagged in the middle. This book could have been much better with some decent editing.

The Holy War is another brilliant allegory of the Christian life by the author of The Pilgrim’s Progress. John Bunyan vividly depicts the internal struggle in the heart and mind of the Christian as a war between Diabolus (Satan) and King Shaddai (God) for the town of Mansoul (man’s soul). Knowing the methods of the enemy is the first step to defeating him, and this is Bunyan’s goal—to make us aware of the war that rages within us throughout our lives. Written in 1682, The Holy War is a masterpiece of Christian literature. Bunyan’s powerful portrayal tells the story of the fall of mankind into sin, the spiritual battle that rages throughout the Christian life, the relentless efforts by Satan to destroy the followers of Shaddai, and the ultimate victory of his Son, Emmanuel. Bunyan has given us an astonishing and life-altering look at the struggles that take place in the battlefield that is the Christian soul. As poignantly true today as it was over 300 years ago, every Christian will see himself in the midst of the same battle because the enemy of our souls never changes his tactics. Why would he, when they are still so effective? “The craft that we call modern, The crimes that we call new, John Bunyan had ’em typed and filed In Sixteen Eighty-two.” —Rudyard Kipling The text has been lightly edited to render it understandable to the modern reader while retaining Bunyan’s voice and inspired writing style. The footnotes and Scripture references included in each chapter make the book ideal for personal or small group study.

The Holy War: In Modern English, by John Bunyan

About the Author John Bunyan was an English Christian writer and preacher who is best known for his allegorical novel The Pilgrim s Progress, published in 1678. Bunyan s faith was profoundly influenced by two books owned by his wife: Arthur Dent's Plain Man's Pathway to Heaven and Lewis Bayly's Practice of Piety, and he turned to preaching following the death of his guide and mentor, John Gifford. The restoration of the monarchy of Charles II of England marked England s return to Anglicanism, and Bunyan s freedom to preach was curtailed. He was arrested numerous times for preaching without a licence, and was finally imprisoned for the offence in November 1660. Bunyan was released from prison in January 1672 and resumed preaching (as permitted under the Declaration of Religious Indulgence) until his death in 1688.Dolores Kimball is an experienced editor and writer whose passion is to explain biblical truth in clear, practical ways that will impact and change lives - especially the lives of women. A Bible study teacher and women's retreat speaker, Dolores has worked as writer and editor for several large Christian ministries including Focus on the Family, David C. Cook, and Compassion International. Formerly Managing Editor of Got Questions Ministries, she is now a freelance writer and editor.

Few people today would derive any pleasure, or much sense, from reading “The Holy War” as it was originally written and so a modern English version of this classical work is welcome. Dolores Kimball is to be commended for bringing this allegorical story of the Christian life before a 21st century readership. The story is about the spiritual battle that constantly rages for control of humanity. Two armies are at war. The diabolical forces of darkness and destruction have taken possession of the hearts, minds and souls of humanity. Outside the city are the armies of God, with the Son (Jesus) representing the forces of light and life. To whom will humanity surrender? The Christian faces a daily battle in this war because the enemy is tenacious. There is much wisdom in Bunyan’s tale and we do well to apply the warnings and counsel to ourselves.

*****Get Your FREE BONUSES When You Download This Book!*****Louisville, Kentucky is the site of what is said to be one of the most haunted places on earth. Waverly Hills Sanatorium is perched upon a massive hill, its decaying ruins casting a perpetual shadow of doom over the city that resides below it. It darkens the air, looking ominous and foreboding, and it is backed up by a chilling history that is bound to make anyone who learns of it shiver and tremble. Even on the best of days, most of us would hardly like to enter asylums where, for lack of a better word, ‘crazy’ people are housed. These institutions are often like the black ops of hospitals – they are there, but they are hardly spoken about or given the attention they deserve. And this is in a normal situation. What do you think would happen when the scales tip over into the paranormal? Strangely enough, the idea of a haunted asylum seems to fire up our imagination; where we would not have cared to spend too much time in a normal psych ward, an abandoned and perhaps haunted psych ward is far too good an opportunity to pass up. I have to warn you though, for all that these places may seem like a brilliant Halloween set up – they are truly not.

Skylar and Stella are searching for treasure in a cave when a huge tiger-like creature chases them out. As it turns out, Skylar has that creature’s treasure map…and it wants it back! Also, much to their surprise, this tiger-like creature is normally an adorable, pirate-hat-wearing, spacesuit-donning, eye-patch-sporting pirate cat! What kind of treasure could this pirate cat be after? After being given their own pirate costumes, the two board the pirate cat’s spaceship and embark on the ultimate treasure-hunting experience. They hop from planet to planet—braving the arctic-like chill of one planet for the key and ending up in the humid tropical heat of another, where the treasure lay. As it turns out, you can demand keys from Iceblurgs, and convince possessive, treasure-hoarding hamsters to share with a little bit of peanut butter bribery. At long last, they have access to the treasure chest. What could be inside? There is a saying that one man’s trash is another man’s, or in this case, pirate cat’s treasure. It couldn’t be any truer here!

He writes fawningly about how Kareem Abdul-Jabar, "slugged a player - and knocked the man unconscious." The book describes how Larry Bird smashed chairs against the wall and "screamed insults" at halftime in order to get his teammates "fired up". It also admiringly describes how he, "...trash-talked, even to older stars".If you want a book that teaches your child to admire these sorts of behaviors (and others described in the same manner), this is the book for you. I think most parents, however, will find this book as inappropriate and shocking as I did. It's too bad the author couldn't have stuck to writing about basketball. Random House should be ashamed of themselves to market this as an educational book (STEP into Reading).

Chili's good, so is barbecue, but nothing's finer than FANDANGO STEW!   No money? No problem! In this sunny, funny western-style take on the famous folktale “Stone Soup,” two penniless but wily vaqueros (cowboys) trick a whole town into cooking a giant pot of stew for everyone to share.   David Davis's deliciously colorful language and Ben Galbraith's delightful illustrations make this picture book a tasty confection.

What an exciting way to learn about sharing and compassion. I'm a fan of David Davis, have been for several years, and he is the king of turning a phrase into a powerful, frolicking mouthful of fun. Throw in colorful, old west poster board illustrations, and no kid will go hungry,

Leeds When I brought this book home last night I figured I'd gather the family around and read it today, but my kids beat me to it! Our 9-year-old found it this morning, started reading it in her best Texas accent and the 5 and 7-year-olds hung on her every word. I can't think of any higher praise for a children's book than when children pick it up and finish it on their own. Great book!

I picked out this book based on the name and the artwork which are wonderful, BUT the story is very sweet--it's about friendship, fellowship, sharing, resourcefulness, creating something extraordinary out of the ordinary and the enduring relationship of a grandfather and grandson. I enjoy creating the many character voices as well as brushing up on my cowboy accents. My son also reads along. He says, "One horse town" in surprised disbelief every time! It's pretty cute. I hope you pick up this book and may it become one of your favorites too. It's a keeper. I think my son's cowboy grandpa would be "right proud."

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Do not recommend By Sabrina M. Bowen Whilst a good portion of the book is"factual" this book is poorly written and misrepresents Wicca more than once. Just on the first few pages this book made the claim that Wicca's history is "undocumented" prior to 1954 because any records before that time were destroyed. It also makes the statement that there are Wiccans out there who worship Satan. Both of these statements are not simply false but somewhat inflammatory. And both are incredibly misleading to someone doing first time research - which Basic books are meant to be for. Beyond that most of the book is basic correspondences that you can find on any number of websites.

If you want a good idea what a family member means when they use the term "Wicca" or are looking into this religion for yourself, this book is a good place to start.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. You get what you pay for By JBR This is more like it. Perfect size to clip to my desk panel next to the monitor, large enough spaces to write in with an extra spot for notes, layout and color that are easy on the eyes, and all text is black. I only wish the finish wasn't so slick, as ink tends to smear if you highlight over it. An extra fine Sharpie pen would eliminate that. I'm not a Kinkade fan but it's clipped "open" to the month so there's just the small picture on the side. I would buy it again next year if it's available.
