This coloring book has him sitting down and focused on what he is doing. That gives me time to get other things done. Love it!

Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. There are few dreams more spiritually intoxicating than the dream of being used by God to start a new community of Christ that skillfully brings the restorative gospel to a lost and broken city. Something which feels like a spiritual landslide that starts with lostness and ends in an avalanche of new congregations multiplying and transforming community after community into which they unmistakably seep.  Authors Jeff Christopherson and Mac Lake call readers to imagine a movement that vividly remembers the insubstantial days of a mustard seed with a sense of awe and wonder when looking at the indescribable harvest that stands all around. Though the kingdom of God can't be forced by superficial methods, the good news is that when you move past the threshold of your competency and comfort, you find yourself in the very spot where God can use you like no other.  What wouldn’t you sacrifice to be a part of something that only could be described as a God-honoring gospel movement?

By Randy B Ferguson In this book Jeff Christopherson and Mac Lake have not revealed the “keys” to the kingdom, rather they have illuminated some of the “secrets” of the kingdom lived out by Jesus himself. We only have two occasions in the New Testament when Jesus used the word “church”. But each gospel reverberates, dozens of times, with his use of the term “kingdom”. Rest assured these secrets are not “pie-in-the-sky” platitudes but gospel truth able to assist church planters in planting churches with a "huge degree of practicality". My favorite book on disciple making (and church planting) has always been Robert Coleman’s Master Plan of Evangelism. I read it every year in the month of my birth. Move over February, I think I found another classic in the making that I need to revisit again and again and again…..

By Joseph H Outlaw Answering the call to plant a church or to be a church planting team member is not an easy journey, but Jeff and Mac have provided a resource in Kingdom First that is an easy read and an extremely practical tool. What appears in the pages of Kingdom First I have been blessed to live out- both in serving on a core group with Mac at a church plant in Myrtle Beach, SC, and as a planting support player with Jeff through the North American Mission Board. Both men share their passion for planting as a key to sustainable Kingdom growth thoughtfully and pragmatically. Their heart leaps out as I read it! Kingdom First reads as a gentile playbook for planting churches that plant churches. I think those called to plant churches or to serve as a church planting team member will have a hard time putting this book down or leaving its pages black and white. It's that good!

By Tim Wheat It is rare to be able to have a resource on church planting that lays both a solid theological foundation combined with relevant practical expression in one work. Christopherson and Lake have given us both in Kingdom First. From a missiological perspective, this book will expand your ability to see the necessary components to advance the Kingdom through a God-glorifying movement of establishing new communities of faith. From a practitioner's perspective, you will see a clear path to take in understanding and preparing for the high call of church planting. This book is both a beautiful blend of depth and relevance. These two guys have produced a work that not only serves as a guide for church planting but will challenge and inspire any leader and disciple-maker. Every pastor and potential church planter should make this a "must read" and "multiple-read" book!

Merry Christmas, Squirrels!, by Nancy Rose

From School Library Journal PreS-Gr 1—When Mr. Peanuts the squirrel receives an invitation to visit for Christmas from his cousin, he immediately packs his suitcase with plenty of hand-knitted Christmas sweaters, hops in his convertible, and zooms through the snow to Cousin Squirrel's house. The two squirrels enjoy a hazelnut latte, go sledding, and open presents—peanuts, of course. What raises this book above the pedestrian are the more than 25 carefully composed photographs, depicting real squirrels and tiny, squirrel-size props, many of them hand-made (teeny knit sweaters, teeny snowshoes made of twigs). VERDICT The sharply focused, detailed photos of a frisky-tailed, big-eyed squirrel nosing curiously about adorably small objects will captivate kids, even if the text is nothing special.—Eva Mitnick, Los Angeles Public Library

Review Praise for Merry Christmas, Squirrels!:"The sharply focused, detailed photos of a frisky-tailed, big-eyed squirrel nosing curiously about adorably small objects will captivate kids."―School Library Journal"The whimsical details of the world Rose has created for her squirrels (a gingerbread train, nut-themed picture books for them to read before a roaring fire) are as amusing as in the previous book."―Publishers Weekly

About the Author Nancy Rose is a photographer living in Canada. Her popular photos of wild squirrels in handcrafted settings, taken in her backyard, have attracted a wide following on Flickr, and have been featured in the Washington Post, the London Times, and Buzzfeed, among many others.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Hello there, Mr. Peanuts!!! By Beth - I Sniff Books It’s been a long wait, but oh so worth it! I am SO EXCITED for Merry Christmas, Squirrels! which is Nancy Rose’s second book featuring the adventures of Mr. Peanuts and Cousin Squirrel. (Rose’s first book, The Secret Life of Squirrels, debuted in October 2014).Oh hello there, Mr. Peanuts! It’s so good to see you again! Hope you’ve been doing well!!!If you are new to the photography of Nancy Rose, the first thing you need to know is that her photos are the REAL DEAL — she does not digitally alter them. Rose’s backyard squirrels are regular visitors to her deck. Squirrels are quite curious by nature and thus spend time exploring the handmade sets she crafts — and it certainly doesn’t hurt that she hides nuts in and around the props to encourage investigation! And speaking of the set and props, very few are store-bought, nearly all are handcrafted by Rose. But let’s get back to the story! It’s what we all have been waiting for! In Merry Christmas, Squirrels!, Cousin Squirrel invites Mr. Peanuts to spend the Christmas holidays with him. I’m not going to spoil things because there is a definite story arc but OF COURSE Mr. Peanuts and Cousin Squirrel engage in all sorts of ADORABLE and CHARMING winter, Christmas Eve, and Christmas day activities.Merry Christmas, Squirrels! is the perfect feel-good-cozy-make-you-smile kind of story for the upcoming winter and holiday season. We can only hope that we don’t have to wait a whole year for the next adventure of Mr. Peanuts and Cousin Squirrel.Disclosure: I received a complimentary review copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. The opinions are my own.[this review is for the hardcover edition]

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. I loved it even more than the first. A fun Christmas story for all ages! By Sunshine on a Rainy Day SUMMARY: This is the second Squirrel book from Nancy Rose. In this installment, Mr. Peanuts is getting ready for Christmas. His cousin invites him to his home for the holiday. Mr. Peanuts packs his convertible and goes on his way. Mr. Peanuts and Cousin Squirrel enjoy many activities including snow shoeing, building a snowman and roasting chestnuts over an open fire. On Christmas day, they are very excited to open their many presents and are not so surprised to see what they give each other.ILLUSTRATIONS: The pages are illustrated with photographs of squirrels and props created by the author.THE GOOD: I enjoyed this book as much if not more than the first one. I was fascinated with each and every photograph of what Mr. Peanuts and Cousin Squirrel were doing. I spent extra time looking at the props Nancy Rose created and even though I do not enjoy rodent animals, I was entranced by these little squirrels and their actions. I especially enjoyed the Christmas theme. My favorite picture was of the two squirrels reading story books--'Twas the Nut Before Christmas and The Nutcracker--on Christmas Eve. I noticed a copy of Rose's first book, The Secret Life of Squirrels in a basket nearby! As a photographer myself, I can appreciate the enormous amount of time and patience it takes to get even one good picture of animals in the wild let alone alongside of props. Ms. Rose tells how she went about accomplishing these amazing photos in the back of the book.THE NOT AS GOOD: Although the wording of this story is a little weak and doesn't flow as smoothly as it could, I was fascinated with each and every photograph.AGE RECOMMENDATION: This book is recommended for ages 3-6. I think that can be bumped up to age 8 as the older children will be fascinated with the photos. I highly recommend this book. It encourages imagination, curiosity, and creativity.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Amazing photography By BrittyMama I wanted to give this 5 stars for the photography alone. I think it is absolutely amazing that these images are not digitally altered with the props. I can't imagine the patience (and trial & error) it must take to get each perfect shot when your subjects are wild squirrels. Geez- I can barely get my child to sit still for a good photo! It is a very unique idea and I bet it is a lot of fun to make all those tiny squirrel sized props!I feel like I have to dock a star though just because I think the story was a little simple. We follow Mr. Peanut as he prepares for Christmas and goes for a visit to Cousin Squirrel's house. We see all the fun things they do together such as build a snowman and exchange gifts. It's enough to keep a little one's attention but it kind of seemed as though the story was inspired by the photographs so was a little choppy in parts. On second thought, there are tiny squirrel sized crochet sweaters. I think that deserves a full 5.

A lot of problems facing a minister are brought up with many ways of solving them. I would recommend the book to be read by every Christian Pastor/Minister even if just for a good review. I feel even if the experienced Minister reads and thinks about it, they will learn a lot from it. David did a good job in writing it and sharing it with the not only the Ministry, but to the lay person also. It could use a little more editing also.

The Bible declares that Yahusha first existed at his human birth to both his parents Joseph (Yahseph) and Mary (Miriam). The proof that he was born with the seed of Yahseph is that he died as death is passed on genetically to all men through the father's seed (Adam). The Bible declares that Yahusha was born imperfect, void of the knowledge of Yahuah. The Bible further declares that Yahusha was born disobedient with his own selfish will (as all men are) and had to learn obedience. The Bible declares that Yahusha was in need of repentance from sin and that his faith in Yahuah wavered at times and he was consumed with guilt and exceedingly sorrowful. I realize this is not what we have been taught our entire lives, but it is what the Bible declares. In this book, I am going to explore how Yahusha, as Melchizedek and Passover Lamb, took away the sin introduced into the world by Adam while being simply "fully human in every way". I will explain the significance of the Torah in the life of Yahusha as it applies to The Passover Lamb, human Messiah, and Eternal High Priest. The goal in this book is to truly understand the depths of the sacrifice and blood of Yahusha the Messiah. I will introduce the true lineage of Miriam (Mary) as a Princess of Israel and Daughter of Jerusalem. I will introduce Yahseph (Joseph) as a Prince of Israel and a Lion of Judah. Explaining how Yahusha's bloodline was carefully cultivated to bring about Melchizedek the Ruling Zadok. This book will explore the meaning behind the baptism of Yahusha and explain why it is critical to the Plan of Yahuah. That Plan is to purchase His Elect's salvation from the curse of death levied by the decrees in The Law. This plan of salvation is expressly laid out in prophecy from Genesis to Revelation. It is given to us in the physical examples of the priesthood, the sacrifices, and detailed in "rehearsals" or physical metaphors found in the Torah. The Torah is the foundation of Yahusha's claim to be the Messiah therefore we will establish that it is "alive and active" today. the Torah defines his role as Melchizedek and establishes his right to rule through bloodlines. All the prophecies and rehearsals in the Torah and Prophets were designed to point to The Messiah and continue to this day to help us understand his role. the Torah explicitly explains his role on Earth to take away sin in the world that holds us all hostage to death. Yahusha literally put to death "sin" by literally dying sinless and therefore defeated death. Death, the penalty of sin, cannot hold he who is "without sin". Yahusha was then able to defeat the curse of death passed on to mankind through the genetic structure all men inherit from Adam. I want to explore what "spotless" or "without sin" means and from what point Yahusha was considered "sinless" by Yahuah. We will ask and answer the hard questions such as: Must Yahusha have lived his entire life without sin? Is there any real evidence in scripture that would help us determine Yahusha's state of perfection vs. sin at his execution on Passover? If we are truly "saved by faith in the promises of Yahuah", then we all should know and understand what those promises are. We should know how Yahuah fulfilled them to bring about our salvation through Yahusha the Messiah. Faith is not faith if what we have put our trust in was not promised by Yahuah! So what we claim as "faith" had better be firmly grounded in a promise made by Yahuah or we are going to be greatly disappointed.

MARTians, by Blythe Woolston

From School Library Journal Gr 5–8—In a dreary near future, big box retail companies own everything—schools, doctors, even people, if they're not careful. For Zoe Zindleman, this world has always been a well-oiled machine guiding her through life. But when Zoe's mom is forced to leave town seeking better work and Zoe's school hustles her into the workforce a year early, she is left rudderless in her decaying subdivision. When the buses stop running and the water is in danger of being shut off, a strange boy finds Zoe and makes it his job to guide her. Wary but with few options, Zoe follows him into the small and dirty world of people like her who've fallen through the cracks. Previous Morris winner Woolston's writing is smart and atmospheric, leaving readers to fill in many of the blanks about Zoe's world. The protagonist is an interestingly uncommon lead, slow to distrust the consumer-centric society she's grown up in. Many of the themes and moments can be thought provoking, even heartbreaking—especially set against such familiar territory as toy departments and food courts. Overall, though, many readers will feel slighted by the lack of narrative progress. Woolston picks up many interesting threads through the short book but sees few of them to clear or compelling conclusions. VERDICT Readers interested in thought-provoking stories set in unusual environments will enjoy this quick read, but those looking for a thrilling page-turner may be disappointed.—Amy Diegelman, Vineyard Haven Public Library, MA

Review Subtle callbacks to Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles enhance the mood of eerie devastation for those who catch the references but don't detract for those who don't. Cheery commercial scripts, news transcripts, and other ephemera of this plastic society punctuate Zoë's narration, bearing witness to her grim environment, which, heartbreakingly, has no defeatable villain. A gorgeous and gut-wrenchingly familiar depiction of the entropic fragmentation of society.—Kirkus Reviews (starred review)Woolston, author of the Morris Award–winning The Freak Observer (2010), does a superb job creating a world that is part Kafka and part Orwell, while the regular integration into the narrative of quotes from Ray Bradbury’s The Martian Chronicles further lends an otherworldly quality. Told in Zoe’s flat, affectless first person voice—one that is beautifully articulated—the novel has an increasingly ominous tone that invites anxious speculation about the future of the three young people in a soulless world. The one is both haunting and unforgettable.—Booklist (starred review)Zoë’s flattened narration reflects the disjointed, disconnected nature of her existence, and while Woolston keeps the focus on Zoë, offhandedly mentioned details about her world ("I’m not an Otakusexual—although I respect toonophilia as a sexually responsible choice") and chilling corporatespeak ("Your smile is AllMART’s welcome mat") will set imaginations spinning. It’s a terrifying extrapolation of the here-and-now and, like much of Woolston’s fiction, far too close for comfort.—Publishers Weekly (starred review)It is excellent, excellent, excellent, the sort of book that challenges and possibly changes a reader’s worldview.—Kirkus ReviewsZoë's voice is utterly distinctive...It's not hard to have affection for Zoë.—Chicago TribuneThe parody of media manipulation, commercialism and retail psychology (as parroted by the savvy, order-seeking Zoë) is often laugh-out-loud funny, but underneath the satire of MARTians is the story of girl in search of love and family wherever she can find it.—Shelf Awareness for ReadersReaders [will] feel for Zoë, who has been abandoned and had her future co-opted by corporate greed.—Bulletin of the Center for Children's BooksReaders interested in thought-provoking stories set in unusual environments will enjoy.—School Library Journal

Set in a semi-snarky not-so future city of chaos, where everyone has a job and potential... or they just don't. You don't want to know what happens to those out of work, but you'll get the idea quickly. Woolston takes our heroine Zoe, Zoo, Zero, Z doesn't matter, she'll answer to any of those as any good worker would. But even moving on the fast track of Allmart, her career is up and coming as long as she leaves her Mood Stabilizer safely inserted in her neck, she can sing and dance and run odd jobs until the sparrows fall from the sky. And then clean that up too. It's a very dark and lonely world for Z, but she is quick, spontaneous and soon she finds a safe haven in her fellow student/co-workers. I love her sass, I felt for her loss and I am still hoping she can survive with others in her same situation.Great YA for a teen girl. Make the right moves and move upward, make the wrong ones and you're gone! Take nothing for granted EVEH!I received this book free for an honest review and I thoroughly enjoyed every sentence!

Darkly Amusing Dystopia About an Every-Girl By Debbie Cole This is my first novel by Blythe Woolston and to be completely honest I had never heard of her before the release of MARTians. I was not at all disappointed, Blythe is a very talented and creative writer. This book is worth a read for anyone looking for a classic dystopian story based on current societal trends and without romance.MARTians is a very dark dystopian novel based on the current societal trend towards wasteful consumption. People have placed all their trust in big companies and their sole drive in life is to consume as much as possible. We also get to follow the disastrous events of Zoe Zindleman's life after she is graduated early from school in the name of "efficiency" and her AnnaMom abandons her. Zoe is faced with the unexpected burden of growing up well before she had originally expected and her new life as a big box employee begins almost immediately. At the same time she meets Timmer, the boy who changes her life and in turn changes her perception of reality.I've read that MARTians is a YA novel, but it read more like an adult novel by dealing with coming of age issues and economics in a very adult way.So, was MARTians worth the read? Definitely! It's a relatively short and enthralling read filled with plenty of action. We get to see a familiar world of box store employment, but with a dark, quirky twist. The gloomy and often comical narrative of Zoe is entertaining with some really interesting social commentary on the side.I was often reminded of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World while reading this novel. I'm not sure if this was because I'd just finished reading Brave New World before starting the MARTian, but it definitely struck me as a modernized version. A world filled with people who are not just complacent with their lot in life, but happy in the belief that big corporations have their best interests at heart. But do they? In a way, MARTian is like Brave New World because just like in Huxley's work the people are blind to their true reality of their lives and only one character can really see reality for what it is: in shambles. This novel will appeal to readers who enjoy dystopian, societal commentary, plucky humor and strong dialogue. There is absolutely no romance but plenty of interesting characters who help Zoe develop quite a wild narrative that only makes perfect sense at the very end of the book. MARTians is a novel that ends with bang, not a whimper.Received from publisher in exchange for an unbiased review.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Frighteningly Plausible By Deerlily Woolston is spot on with this darkly snarky dystopian tale. Main character Zoe is caught up in the crumbling infrastructure of an oppressive consumer culture that only values life (from human beings to cute little popcorn mice) that can be exploited for profit. There are no hunger games here, no epic battles -- there isn't even a discernible villain, only the banal horror of a big box store with an insidious power to control its employees' lives. I found this novel engrossing and often funny. I kept reading not so much for action but simply to see what happened next; Zoe's world is chillingly familiar and yet unpredictable. It ends ambiguously, but with a strong message. Zoe has changed, but what her life will be like is hard to fathom. I would like a sequel.

The adult who received it lives and breathes Star Wars, and she was thrilled by the book. The flashlight wasn't that bright, more of a toy. The sounds were cute, and even after everyone played with them they were still going strong. The pop up pictures weren't overwhelmingly intricate, but again this is meant as a children's book. They were cute, though, and the pages folded nicely. All in all, a great gift!

Being Jewish is not easy! Being a Jewish follower of Yeshua is even more difficult. As Jews, we have to deal with growing anti-Semitism worldwide. As Messianic Jews, we are often rejected by our own families. Spiritual leaders in the Jewish community tell us we are no longer Jewish if we believe in “that man.” Within the Body of Messiah we are often misunderstood by our Gentile brothers and sisters in Yeshua who may not have a clue about our very acute identity struggles with which Gentile believers typically do not have to face. Are we under the law? Should we follow Rabbinic traditions? Should we keep the Torah? How? What is the purpose of the law? Did Messiah come to point us back to the law? Why did God give the Torah in the first place? In this short book, we will deal with these, and other issues.

By Global Dave This landmark treatise is a gemstone, clearly and succinctly clearing up the misunderstandings and misinterpretations regarding Torah observance for Jewish followers of Yeshua. For those who desire theologically accurate and practical application, this is a must read. Many people of faith, both Jew and Gentile, are confused about their identity and responsibility in terms of following the law. Some see following the law as an obligation, others as a burden, others as irrelevant... so how do we discern the path that God desires for us?This short book will give you a firm foundation and guide you into a greater understanding of the teachings of Yeshua and Moses. But even more than wisdom and understanding, you will have confidence in your approach to the King of Kings in both grace and truth. Helpful definitions and clear exegetical interpretations of the biblical text will unravel apparent English language contradictions. Even terminology such as Torah, Law and Oral Law are clearly delineated. The book includes short sections explaining each of the ways God uses the Scriptures to reveal Himself through the law, as well as insights into rabbinic traditions and commentary.Written purposefully, clearly, and with a passion for the Biblical text and its Author, the discussion is neither shallow nor overwhelming, and the reader will find peace in a deeper understanding of God and a richer experience walking with Him. It's not another one of those modern books that re-write what has already been published with newer language and illustrations; this is a new and welcome addition to the library of Jewish Biblical knowledge and practice.

7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. A Book that argues the New Testament authors and Moses preach the same message! By Joe E. J. In The Torah’s Goal? Postell et al seek to grasp the meaning and purpose of the The Books of Moses with sensitivity to the author’s strategy, i.e. the author’s intention as revealed in the text’s verbal meaning and strategic arrangement of materials. The authors’ purpose is to provide non-technical, easy-to-understand answers to the questions related to Jewish believers’ relationship to the Torah as a book and to the Mosaic legislation contained therein. In approaching this topic from a burden to help Jewish believers in Yeshua, the authors also provide solid answers for Gentile Christians who might be wrestling with the same issues—Christians wrapped up in legalistic and faulty understandings of the Torah’s goal. The authors express their thesis regarding the purpose of the Torah (5 books of Moses) in the introduction stating, “[The Torah] is an historical narrative, whose purpose is to lead Israel through the broken Law and beyond, namely, to the Messiah who, Moses assures his readers, will come in the last days. To be faithful followers of the Torah, in our view, is to believe in Yeshua!” In my view, the authors make a compelling case for understanding the Torah this way, demonstrating that this was the very idea Moses himself intended in composing his book the way he did. In the following I will applaud the strengths of the book and also offer ways in which the message of this book might be strengthened still more.Summary and EvaluationIn the first major section, the authors seek to make the case that the New Testament contention that Yeshua/Messiah is the goal of the Torah, i.e. its purpose, is actually discernible in the text of the Torah itself. They note how the Torah begins with the breaking of the “law” in The Garden resulting in exile and ends with Moses anticipating that Israel will herself follow in Adam’s footsteps by breaking the law and going into exile. They ask the obvious question. How is the Torah’s purpose to encourage the reader to find life in keeping the law if it anticipates that Israel will certainly fail to do this? The authors then carefully show that within the strategy of the Torah’s composition, Moses shows how the giving of the law at Sinai actually failed to produce the faith God desired of his people, but instead led to death. Any serious student of Moses must come to terms with the evidence the authors give in this regard. The authors declare, “In spite of Israel’s year-long experiences with God at Mount Sinai, Israel does not believe. As a direct result, and in contrast to the believing Abraham, they also do not have righteousness (Deut 9:4–6).” If the authors have correctly identified Moses’ intention, how can the goal of the Torah be to teach righteousness by keeping the law? Here, while I think they make a compelling case, I feel the authors’ case could be strengthened by appealing also to the way Ezekiel understands the Sinai legislation in Ezekiel 20 where he seems to say the laws were never intended to bring “life”, a message Habakkuk resonates with (see Ezekiel 20:25 and Habakkuk 2:4).In the next major section the authors show masterfully how Moses’ book is actually quite concerned with a future-coming Messianic king from Judah, looking beyond David to the “last days”. Here the major poems of the Torah are key in revealing this prophetic, future-looking hope. At key points in the Torah’s composition Moses pauses and sings of the coming Messiah. The authors conclude, “The final goal of the Torah, in its truest sense, cannot be obedience to the Law, since Moses assures us that the covenant made at Mount Sinai would be broken. This leads the reader to look in faith beyond the Law and the broken Sinai Covenant to the coming of a king, a prophet like Moses (Deut 18:15; 34:10), who will offer the people of Israel a better covenant wherein obedience will be the fruit of a circumcised heart (see Deut 30:6, 11–14; Rom 10:4–13).”Next, in a very helpful section, the authors tackle the important question of how the modern reader should approach the Torah and the legal portions therein as sacred and inspired Scripture. They show how the Bible itself answers this question, commending the Torah and its legal corpora as tutor, shadow, theology, love, wisdom, and prosecuting attorney. The Christian, Jew and Gentile, will find rich help here in recovering the Torah’s legal portions as beneficial and relevant today. In the final section the authors turn their attention to consider how Jewish believers in Yeshua should approach the law today. They argue the Law was always intended as a temporary system until the Messiah and the New Covenant would come. They also point out how impossible keeping the law has become given the destruction of the Temple, a major problem also for non-Yeshua following Jews today. The authors also delve into whether Yeshua taught us to follow the traditions of the Rabbis, the Oral Law. They argue he did not, but rather urged his readers to follow Moses, i.e. the Scriptures he wrote.Additionally, the authors seek to undermine the authenticity of any “Oral Law” and get at its real origins, arguing it is a myth invented to salvage the Rabbis’ power and influence over the people in light of the destruction of the Second Temple. The authors also note how the Scripture never even hints at the existence of an Oral Law. It is telling that the text instead urges people like Joshua to obey all the things written in the book of the Law with no mention of keeping any Oral Law. The authors conclude concerning the Oral Law that, “it was invented by the Sages in order that Judaism could continue to exist without the temple and without the Messiah whom they rejected under their exclusive authority.” Any serious student of Judaism must come to terms with the arguments made in this section of The Torah’s Goal? Finally, the authors give compelling reasons from Deuteronomy 30 and Jeremiah 31 that it is not a renewed Sinai covenant, but a totally new covenant altogether. Thus, Jewish Christians are no longer under the Sinai covenant but may, nevertheless, adhere to traditions and customs from the Law, not out of obligation, but out of freedom and a desire to be a testimony to fellow Jews and celebrate God’s past dealings with his people—a message in line with Paul’s teaching in Romans 14.Strengths and WeaknessesThe Torah’s Goal? demonstrates its strength in its attempt to uncover Moses’ intention through careful sensitivity to the book’s composition, it’s arrangement of narrative and laws, its major motifs, and its “Big Idea” derived from all these. Any Christian should be concerned to know exactly what Jesus meant when he said that Moses wrote of him (John 5:46), and to know what Paul meant when he said that Messiah was the goal of the Torah (Rom 10:4). If Jesus and Paul are wrong about that, then one should not be a Christian. However, any Jew should be willing to seriously investigate whether or not Jesus and Paul were on to something by coming to terms with what the text of the Torah actually says apart from what the Rabbis say it can mean, what they say is the Torah’s goal. After all, the most influential Jew of all time was convinced the Torah was about him. It deserves at least a serious look to see if he was right. This book raises some compelling evidence to suggest that Jesus and Paul and the New Testament writers were saying nothing different than Moses and Jeremiah and the rest of the prophets. To be a bit picky, hyperlinks to the major sections of the book would be helpful in electronic versions. I also hope there are plans to print physical copies.ConclusionIn conclusion, the authors have gone far in achieving their purpose to help Jewish believers approach the Mosaic legislation and the Torah as a whole in a manner consistent with its original purposes as a work of Scripture while keeping the discussion as non-technical as possible. The authors also persuasively argue for the Messiah-centeredness and future-looking orientation of the Torah, a tall task in light of how even many Christian scholars are skeptical of such. For students who want to go further and get more technical, I recommend The Pentateuch as Narrative by John H. Sailhamer and The Textual World of the Bible by Michael B. Shepard. Also the article, The Mosaic Law and the Theology of the Pentateuch by Sailhamer, stresses the same line of argument in a more technical interaction with biblical scholarship.

By Arlie Francis Almost two-thirds of the Bible is concerned with teaching related to the covenant made by God with the Jewish people at Mount Sinai. Most believers in Jesus, Jewish and Gentile alike, have wrestled with understanding the role that the 613 commandments of this conditional covenant plays in the lives of His followers today. The authors of the book (Dr. Seth Postel, Eitan Bar, and Dr. Erez Soref) have presented a clear and concise discussion of this critically important theological issue. It will set the record straight and sweep away any confusion you might have on this matter. As Jewish believers in Jesus, the authors have much to say on this matter which should be considered. Don't wait. Download this book now and send a copy to your pastor while you are at it!

Has Potential, But a little lacking in convenience By Cindy What I Like: My Sing - Along Bible, created by Stephen Elkins, is a hardcover book outlined with a short bible story on the top half (Let's Read) of colorfully illustrated pages, followed by the lyrics on the lower half (Let's Sing) of the pages and is in biblical order. Each pairing of bible story and song lyrics are given a themed title making it easier for children to understand what they are learning and singing about and while making it easier for parents to find a particular lesson/song they would like to sing along to. For example, the theme for the story of Creation is titled Who Made Me?The songs are sung by children and range from hymn-like songs to upbeat songs the children can clap and dance along to. There are fifty songs in total. I believe the vast collection should keep children (and parents) from getting bored with the same song choices. The songs are very short and easy for the children to learn and memorize. Many years ago when I taught pre-school aged bible study at my church, I would have utilized this book and I think Pre-school aged Bible School teachers would enjoy this resource. What I Dislike: While the actual hardcover book is fairly easy to navigate due to being in biblical order and each stoey titled, the CD unfortunately is not. I used my son's XBox to play the CD and the song tracks are not titled but instead numbered (the track numbers are in numerical order). The songs are in the same order of the book and if you allow the CD to play in order, you shouldn't have trouble, but if you wanted to choose a particular lesson out of order, finding the song that matches is a little difficult.I can imagine that after playing the CD many times, you will get to know which track is which, but I find it very inconvenient that the tracks are untitled and I have to waste time trying to match the lesson with the track number.A very minor thing that I didn't like was that the cover of a the My Sing-Along Bible has an illsutration of Jonah. If I based this book solely by its cover, I would have neve imagined it to be a bible for children but instead a storybook about Jonah.I found what I disliked the most was that some of songs do not contain all of the lyrics. The book may only have the lyrics to the chorus as opposed to the entire songs, which is usually quite short. Another minor annoyance, but an annoyance nonetheless.

This is an illustrated story book with 50 easy to read stories from the Bible, along with a CD of 50 songs corresponding to the stories. It also has two bonus songs of "Books of the Bible: Old Testament and New Testament."With experience as a Sunday School teacher, a book like this is a great tool to teach young children about God and His Word, especially with a sing-along version. This specific book is geared towards younger children, ages 3-7. However, I feel this would be a great start even for babies and toddlers. They are at that age where music can really be a great way to learn. The book format is simple. Each story consists of "Let's Read", a Bible verse, and then a "Let's Sing" section. The "Let's Read" section is the story section consisting of a paragraph to read along with your child. The book also has wonderful and cute illustrations to keep your little one interested. Then the main theme is in the middle of the page where the Bible verse is located. Next, it's the "Let's Sing" section with only the the chorus version of the full song on the CD printed, in case your little one wants to sing a long. On the opposite page with the illustrations, there's a little lesson printed to correspond with theme of the story, song and Bible verse. As to the songs, classics such as "Jesus Loves Me", "O Give Thanks", "God is Great"...etc are all part of this series. Keep the book and CD in your nursery or playroom for a quick story time with your little one.My Sing-Along Bible definitely is an easy to read, to teach and to learn book by Mr. Elkins.NOTE: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher, Tyndale House Publishers for an honest review. WINEHOLT MY SING-ALONG BIBLE50 Easy-Read Stories + 50 Fun Bible SongsCreated by Stephen ElkinsLooking for an easy way to teach toddlers and preschoolers the Bible and do it in a fun way? This book will definitely help a collection of 50 Bible stories that cover the entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelations. The stories are short but give information about the love of God, creation, Noah, Esther, prayer, the risen Christ, loving one another and many more. The use of scripture verses in the stories is important to the story and introduces the kids to what is in God’s Word. Along with songs that match each story, this book offers a great way to share Jesus and salvation to the young mind.Stephen Elkins is a songwriter and author of children books. He is the owner and founder of Wonder Workshop, whose purpose is to grow better kids by giving them a moral compass that reflects God's will. The music CD included with the book contains a bonus of two songs to help learn the books of the Bible. The music, enjoyable to all ages, will be a great way to have family time with the kids.I am a great-grandfather of two and would definitely recommend all parents and/or grandparents to buy and share it with the kids in their life.I received this book free from the Tyndale House Publishers. 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. ~ Chaos magick explained with ease ~ By SilverLining I bought a couple of the author's other books (or "manuals" as he calls them) and felt that he just kinda jumped in to things assuming that the reader had some background information about others. Of those topics in those books, Servitors was one of them. THIS book is one that was needed. I would say it's for the beginner in mind who might have read a little bit about Servitors and can't make heads or tails out of all the different types of servitor making rules, methods out there. Everything is laid out nicely in this manual.

7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Secrets Of Servitor Magick By Rachel Horon Good approach to building Servitors. I like the varied styles presented by this author and mage, Oliver P. Hart, who has a very familiar tone to his writing. I also really like that he addresses the importance of destroying a Servitor and/or knowing the lifespan of its energy. It is a point that is so often overlooked. Good read!

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Solid information By Mnmom The author put together the basics of Chaos Magick in an easy to read, easy to understand fashion. My only suggestion to improve this publication is the utilization of an editor, or, at the very least, a proof reader.

By Bassocantor [[VIDEOID:be78a841c159c2fa82ff8f1ac52ef0c7]] I hope you find this video helpful in imagining how this product might work. This is a kit containing lots of different Sumo wrestlers--some the traditional, and some quite different. I see that one of the pre-designed fighters is a turtle, and one is a big fish. You simply push out the supplied Sumo characters using the nicely perforated forms. It is easy to punch out. The kit also kinds various accessories, such as trophies, or different wigs and clothing the wrestlers can wear. There are also several blank forms, perforated, but blank, so you can draw your own fighter. There are good instructions, with suggestions on how you might use the accessories, or how to draw your own Sumo fighter. You place your two wrestlers on the "ring" (the box platform), then imagine them fighting it out. In the video here, I pair up a traditional warrior with several different opponents. It was a close match, but the traditional fighter won each match. All in all, I found this to be a really cute set. Use your imagination, lighten-up, and just have fun! I think this little set would be a hit at a party (maybe after everyone's had a few drinks?)Sample product for impartial review.
