A great sing-song rhyme- not forced or fudged. It is a DREAM to read out loud (none of those eye-roll rhymes with made up words or added syllables just to force the verse).2. A mix of the familiar and the new. Everyone knows the Gingerbread Man! And everyone knows he has quite the confidence regarding his running abilities. But not everyone knows how he came to be or the depth of his kind heart3. A meaningful lesson. The premise of the story is that the Gingerbread Man and his classmates at school are tasked with doing good deeds in the name of Christmas Spirit. By the end of the book, you too will be inspired to write a note or bake some cookies for someone who could use some Holiday Cheer.4. Fun, cartoon paneled illustrations that match the light-hearted storyI'm trying to build a collection of Christmas books to start a family tradition so I've read probably 20 or so of the newly released Christmas books this year and this one is so far my favorite!

By Carrie Charley Brown The Gingerbread Man is back and has become a true friend and active participant in his classroom. With a little encouragement from his teacher, he and his fellow classmates band together to enact small acts of kindness and appreciation for their greater community. Proving that love comes in creative, thoughtful packages and a little help goes a long way, the Gingerbread Man Loose at Christmas is likely to start a movement of thoughtfulness. As with the first two books, The Gingerbread Man Loose in the School and The Gingerbread Man Loose on the Fire Truck, the rhyme is an extra treat that adds to the adventure. Another great collaboration from author Laura Murray and illustrator Mike Lowery.

I like the illustrations a lot and the story is wonderful. It is very appealing to little children - and me, too. I do recommend this book for gingerbread story lovers or anyone who needs a good holiday book for little people. It has a very good story.

Decent early reader for fans of superhero stories By Caryn This early reader introduces Ant-Man, a superhero whose suit makes him small, allowing him to defeat villains. While Ant-Man may not be the most dynamic of the Marvel characters and the story here feels pretty sparse, the illustrations are colorful and action-packed, and the simple sentences are good for newer readers. Would work especially well for fans of superheroes.

I love how this book encourages others to create according to their own personal and internal needs, rather than follow someone else's idea when it comes to ceremony. It ask readers to step outside of the mundane and to create personalized, individual and unique ceremony. More importantly this author suggest by doing this we can put the power of healing back into our own hands thro ceremony and learn to depend on and trust ourselves.

Raina's drawings seem more detailed and lively in each successive book. I've been buying the BSC graphic novels for my niece who is finding real inspiration in the artwork while simply enjoying Ann Martin's time-honored stories, and I heartily recommend this series both for the clean, yet engaging stories, as well as the excellent graphics. Especially recommended for girls who are reluctant readers, because graphic novels are many times a great introduction to storytelling in book form.

With her late mother a distant memory, she really depends on her dad, her best friend Kristy (who is as loud as Mary Anne is quiet!), and her other friends, artistic Claudia and sophisticated Stacey, to bring her out of her shell. But she kind of likes being IN that shell. She also really likes being the secretary of the Baby-Sitters Club (which the idea-filled Kristy started) and baby-sitting kids in the neighborhood. When the members of the BSC have an unexpected fight, everything goes topsy-turvy, and Mary Anne feels very lonely. A little while later, she has a baby-sitting emergency. At first, she doesn't know what to do without adults or her friends around, but soon enough, she musters up the courage to speak up and do what needs to be done.I was a huge fan of the original BSC series by Ann M. Martin, and I absolutely adore the new graphic novels. Raina Telgemier has done a wonderful job preserving the original storylines and depicting the characters and their environments as they were described in the books. Mary Anne - who was always my favorite character - looks a lot like I always pictured her, braids and all. Three cheers for this, the third book in the BSC Graphix line!

Mary Anne finds herself babysitting a child that comes down with a very high fever who has become listless and hard to wake up. She does an excellent job checking the child's temperature, remembering where the emergency numbers were and contacting the people on the list. This book is a great reminder of how to stay calm in an emergency situation and how to be organized in as well. Thankfully the young girl's problem was easily fixed, which isn't the case with the four members of the Baby Sitters Club. They have a falling out and try to run the club without actually speaking to one another. Over the few weeks that they are not speaking to one another, Mary Anne does a lot of growing up and learns to take charge, both in the above situation and at home with her father. It will take someone very strong and assertive to get the club back on track. Is Mary Anne up for the job? Read for yourself to find out!I'm happy to see my ten year old getting interested in this series. They bring out some important life lessons, like divorce, losing a parent, helping a sick child etc... They also show kids doing something useful with their time and making friendships last a lifetime, even when it gets hard. By Meg ...And now for some more words:Though it seems that there are mixed feelings concerning this latest installment in the Warriors: The Power of Three series, I found Long Shadows to be THE BEST thus far. Much of the controversy seems to be over the great deal of time devoted to the past (remember the ancient cats?), rather than the present. But personally, I found this to be incredibly intriguing. The four-or-so chapters literally spent in the past serve to answer some questions while simultaneously posing so very many more, and you're left wondering about the true meaning and origin of not only the prophecy, but the Three themselves....And as for the Three...Jaypaw's character continues to develop, as does his power, and the portion of the book spent from his point of view was, in my opinion, the most interesting. He also receives his full name at long last. Lionblaze, meanwhile, is haunted by visions of killing Heatherpaw- visions that interfere with him carrying through with a task that could mean the life or death of his Clanmates. Hollyleaf, as in Eclipse, continues on with her constant fretting over the Warrior Code, but you also begin to see a new, darker side to her- a power-hungry side so intent on holding up the Warrior Code that it could spell trouble...Like the Three, the prophecy also deepens, and you see them use their power in different ways- as in, to aid StarClan in solving the problem with Sol. ...But later, when a dark secret is drawn out into the open, the very meaning of the prophecy- and the identity of its subjects- is questioned...One thing about this book that was a bit... I wouldn't call it a 'problem', but it was, well, odd... was the constant trouble that seemed to plague ThunderClan. The whole book, it seemed as though there was one major problem after the next- issues with ShadowClan, then sickness, then forest fires, and then a secret that could turn that Clan up-side-down- serving to make this a very "busy" book. But it was still really good.So, anyway, I do recommend that any Warriors fan read Long Shadows- it certainly leaves you desperate for the next book- and the answers to all of the thousands of questions!

And let me tell you, it was a heck of a lot better than I thought it would be (and i thought it would be pretty dang good)! In my opinion, Long Shadows is one of the best books in the Power of Three series.Maybe it's the flashbacks I had to the first series, maybe it's the fact that this takes Warriors in a whole new, interesting direction. I don't know. But the fact is that for the people who like old-school warriors, loves from other clans and uniting-the-Clans-type-disasters can't go on forever. Long Shadows especially opens new, riveting and suspenseful plot doors while still retaining that tie to the first Warriors series and the conflicts of Tigerstar.Jaypaw's powers and his connection to the cats who came before the Clans at the lake grow more interesting and complex with each new book. Lionblaze, trying to severe his ties with Tigerstar and escape from the evil cat's influence, becomes more likeable the more I read about him. Meanwhile, Hollyleaf shows a more intimidating and frightening side than she has in the past. Neither have we seen the last of the loner, Sol. Even supporting characters (Ashfur, Squirrelflight, Tawnypelt, Fallen Leaves...) have significant roles to play.I finished this book in four hours, because I knew that if I put it down I would be thinking about it for the rest of the day until I was done. I would definitely reccommend this and the rest of the Warriors series to anyone who is the least bit interested. Whether you're in fifth or sixth grade, as I was when I and my friends started reading the books, or are in high school, as we are now, or beyond, which my mother was when she read them, this is a series that cannot be described in one word unless that word is the word 'awesome'.My only lament is that the next one is not released until April.

The story line was rapid moving where it should have been and slower moving where you needed to pay attention. It thankfully took longer to read than the last book. My children and I all have varying ideas as to whom did what to where and why. I cannot wait for the next installment! Can you? This book is extremely creative where I was afraid the lines were wearing a little thin. I could not be more pleased.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Unexceptional, But It Has Its Moments By Pop Bop The basic premise here is popping up more and more. Two kids are so average and blandly invisible they are recruited by the League of Unexceptional Children to operate as spies. The running joke is that no one ever notices or remembers them so they are functionally undercover even when they're out in the open. That premise allows the narrator and the characters to take a lot of pot shots at our supposed succeed-at-all-costs culture. Putting aside whether you think that culture is as pervasive or as meretricious as assumed, how does this book work as an entertainment?Well, a lot of the book is repetitious. We go on and on about the heroes' averageness, we have little chapter heading quotes from average kids, all of the adults only ever talk about the heroes' averageness, and the heroes only ever think about their averageness. Pretty early on one gets the idea. And of course the whole project is tricky - if the heroes are supposed to be bland and dull, then why do we want to read about them or follow their adventures? Either the kids have to be secretly, internally interesting or the author has to be remarkably clever and quick-witted in describing them and what happens to them.Here, we get a little bit of both approaches. Sometimes the kids offer a funny insight or bit of dialogue that stands out. Sometimes the narrator tosses off a funny throwaway line. Sometimes there's a bit of business among the characters that has a twist and a bit of humorous bite. (At one point the kids enter the League's secret lair through a hidden door in the back of a hot dog stand's walk-in refrigerator. Our heroine muses that "[i]t's kind of like Narnia, only with a lot of pork products,...". I think that's witty and just a touch edgy. It's bits like that that got me through the book.) There is an effort to include quirky secondary characters to punch up the narrative, but most of them are in equal parts amusing, over broad, and annoying, so I'm not sure where that gets you.I guess the upshot here is that this ended up being a perfectly fine and readable book, with a few high points and an occasional edge but an awful lot of fill. I would expect that fans of the author's "School of Fear" series will like the book, as would many other early middle graders looking for a light read. It's just that for me the book didn't stand out from the crowd.Please note that I received a free advance ecopy of this book in exchange for a candid review. Apart from that I have no connection at all to either the author or the publisher of this book.

I loved this book so much that I wrote it into a book I was working on, and I passed it on to my 9 year old friend Avery, herself an avid reader, who read it in a day and put THE LEAGUE OF UNEXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN on her shelf of favorites.

Read and feel special By Darkxy "The League of Unexceptional Children" is this little fluffy entertainment that won't blow your mind, but will give you much needed laughs and giggles.As two very average kids being recruited as spies (because they are so ordinary that no one notices or remembers them) to save USA from falling to pieces, we get to follow them on this fast fun ride of a story. While main plot won't rock your socks off with originality and complexity, I believe that this book actually never meant to do it in the first place. It doesn't have any pretenses on being something important or significant; the strength of "TLOUC" lies in the humor of it, which is extremely self-deprecating, yet innocent at the same time. I really liked "introductions" from kids (and an adult) to each chapter, and yes, my dog also sometimes looks at me in a "Come on, even I could have done that better!" way. Apparently I can relate.I also believe that since kids are portrayed in SUCH an outrageous, over-the-top manner of "average-ness" that even the shiest,most self-doubting kid reading this book will find something special in him/her and feel good about it. As a matter of fact, anyone can feel good about themselves nest to Shelley, Jonathan and ESPECIALLY Arthur. Therefore, let's take advantage of this gift in the hard-knock life we're living and feel our intelligence rise with every word coming out of Arthur's mouth. Good times!"The League of Unexceptional Children" is a good one-time fluff that will lift your mood and make you smile; sometimes it's all one need to feel better and get over a certain slump. Try it for yourself - all kinds of giggles, chuckles, laughs and possible snorts are practically unavoidable while reading this book!

By Rob Natiuk I like many of this author's children's books, but a cute book about a cat will get me all the time! It's neat how the 7-year-old Jasmine goes to the ANIMAL SHELTER to get her birthday present, rather than a pet store. That's a good example. Also, children will learn some of the characteristics of kittens and cats, such as sleeping in the day and playing at night. And claws -- powerful tools for cats that owners must be aware about.The illustrations, also by the author I assume, are colorful. But they don't seem to capture a sweet kitten named "Cuddles." Right from the start he looks like a fat, tough cat, not a sweet little lovable kitten. Still, the story flows well and many good lessons about cats are built in. Also, several places the authors suggests ways that readers can also get involved. One is writing a short story about your favorite gift. "Who gave it to you? How did you feel when you got it? Etc." A neat activity at any age.One problem about writing about pets is making them too human, giving them human characteristics, thoughts and speech. It happens in this book but nothing major. Well done, Mr. Lightning! Keep these entertaining books coming!

By Rick Felty This is a sweet collection of stories about a young girl and her cat and would be perfect to read to children 4-6 who are interested in cats or pets in general. Each story is a unique pet-owning episode told from both human and cat perspective and the details are very true to pet ownership. Just to be clear, these are full text stories with some pictures at the start of each chapter, so ideal for kids who what to be read-to or want to read for themselves. If your child loves hearing about cats as pets, this would be a great purchase.

Possible Potentials of Hillary Clinton’s Presidency By Stella Carrier This kindlebook of Remote Viewing The Hillary Clinton Presidency; The Inevitable Disasters Facing The USA by The Annapolis Remote Viewing Group covers the profile of a person who would be courageous and assertive when it comes to if certain proposals are vetoed. As a Hillary Clinton supporter, I hope that the part that turns out to be untrue in the prediction is the reason for why her Vice Presidential pick would take over and that she gets to serve two terms as President. However, the authors make it clear that their predictions are not set in stone and seemed to convey a message that they would want Hillary Clinton to turn out fine. They even write about the potential probability of around the year 2050 when Chelsea Clinton (daughter of Hillary Clinton for those who may not yet know) is writing memoirs indirectly related to Hillary Clinton’s time in the office as President of the United Sates. The authors do matter of factly take into account the international crises that Clinton may have to deal with during her presidency. On a positive note, the authors mention a more unbiased view regarding police dynamics and Clinton hitting the ground running in her first day as President.

They have characteristic of the sub culture i was spawned from-military, law enforcement, and the era of the TV show the Twilight Zone. Many of the issues they diagnose are emerging, or are in progress. I am an avid intelligence gatherer and have been for 5 decades. My profession is empirical analysis so I love the challenge of matching what they project with actual events unfolding.
