When not in the middle of being a wife, mother, and cookbook fiend, Tamara buries her nose in a good book—and her writer’s pen in ink. In 2012, she returned to the historical romance genre with Dreamspell, a medieval time travel romance. Shortly thereafter, she once more invited readers to join her in the middle ages with the Age of Faith series: The Unveiling, The Yielding, The Redeeming, The Kindling, and The Longing. Tamara’s #1 Bestsellers—Lady at Arms, Lady Of Eve, Lady Of Fire, and Lady Of Conquest—are the first of her medieval romances to be rewritten as “clean reads.” Look for Baron Of Blackwood, the third book in The Feud series, in 2016. Tamara lives near Nashville with her husband, sons, a Doberman that bares its teeth not only to threaten the UPS man but to smile, and a feisty Morkie that keeps her company during long writing stints. By Ky I only review a small fraction of books I purchase but his one deserves the praise it is due. The plot is good and executed well; no missing pieces or spots when you sit back and say, “Wait, that doesn’t make since, two chapters back…” You get my drift. Characters are varied, believable, likeable, and imperfectly human. Also, the setting is interesting. The story takes place in England when Norman French and Saxons are warring over the land; although resistance from the Saxons has been mostly stamped out a few bands of rebels still resist Norman rule. We see the struggle of the conquered and the conquerors at the end of the book there is closure. There are no loose ends needing to be tied when you finish either. This is not a slow book, thank goodness. You always want to turn to the next page and no need to skim extraordinary long descriptions or explanations. An end note: I could see how some very conservative individuals may be offended by the love scenes in this book. I would rate them PG-13, if that (for loves scenes.) Though a charter may muse over a time of intimacy nothing is described in detail. As personal convictions determines ones’ preference in this sort of thing I can only say that enough is described to cause any adult to smiled or blush. Where you go in your mind after that is between you and God, but I do not feel the author is tempting anyone with explicit, indecent love scenes. Any immorality that may occur is never condoned, the opposite in fact.

Her writing flows so effortlessly and smoothly that it takes very little to draw you in and captivate you to the point of not wanting to put the book down. You will fall in love with both the Hero and Heroine as they both face the tragic results of a tragic war. They both have valid reasons for hesitation in accepting their feelings of love for one another. I really do love Rhiannyn. It gives the book a bit of humor when she cautions herself in her head against saying something that will rile Maxen, but turns right around and says it anyway. She just can't help herself. And she says things like that quite a bit. Maxen's good vs evil struggle within himself is very real and you agonize with him as he battles with it. The only thing that was a bit uncomfortable for me was when Maxen and Rhianyn decided to speak their own vows on their own with no minister. Now I do realize that this was a completely different time period and customs were very different back then. The author does give some explanation for this, but still, I didn't care very much for the path it took. I realize that this helped spice up the plot, and it kept things moving along, but still, I could have done without it. That being said, Tamara more than made up for it in the way she brought the story to a close. She grips your heart with the first word of the first sentence of the the first page and keeps her grip right up to the last word of the last sentence of the last page. You won't want to miss out on this book! Or any of her others for that matter!

This novel is set in one of the most grim ages of humanity. I have to grit my teeth every time I read of this era because of the literal destruction and disregard for humanity, beasts, and economics and because of the way women were treated.Leigh however is able to find love, devotion, duty, honor, and integrity in this dismal era. This book is a "clean" read, but Leigh does not stint on the romance. Instead of repetitive sex scenes Leigh focuses on the development of relationships between enemies and different cultures, and how a man and a woman can find a way to bridge the same gap while retaining that which makes them who they are. The hero is a strong capable warrior who was forged on the fires of his father's demands for retribution, and the heroine is a non-noble yet strong, saucy, and humble woman. Both of them have a deep abiding faith which is put to the test but ultimately withstands the rigorous trials set before them. While this is a book of faith it is not preachy, just beautiful. Then too the medieval times were a time of burgeoning faith.Leigh gives the reader an inside glimpse of William the Bastard or Conqueror that I have never read before. He was quite the warrior. I had heard he had perished in an unusual way so after finishing the book I Googled him and had to laugh that such a beast of a man died in such an ignoble way. No, you look it up readers!Leigh provides us with a full complement of well-developed secondary characters and I wish she would use them to write further tales.Usually I hate it when there is not a nice "happy ever after" epilogue. What can I say, I like closure. Leigh did such a splendid job weaving all of the tangled thread together in this masterpiece that there was no need for an epilogue-another book maybe but no epilogue.I will let you readers discover the plot of the story, especially as others have already done so. Were I ever blessed enuf to write a story, this is how I would have done so. Everything fits, it is believable, the characters were true to themselves and most were very admirable, even some of those you love to hate or is it hate to love? But since I can't write a novel I will recommend that you enjoy this one.Tamara Leigh-Salute!
