This is rich, profound and will take you deeper in Intimacy By Author Matthew Robert Payne This book contains a personal love letter from Jesus to us, through 30 deeply personal and spiritually enlightening devotions. Have you ever heard Jesus speak before? Have you ever seen his words on a page before besides the Bible? Have you ever seen Jesus speak in the modern day? This book is rich and should not be read in one sitting like other books. It should be read one at a time and meditated on throughout your day. Some books can be read from cover to cover and others written by highly spiritual people have to be taken little by little and reflected upon just like chewing over your food. This is one of them. I am pleased I downloaded this book. The first five Subjects covered in this book are:Come and be taughtI will guide you to safetyLoose your vesselLive in perfect surrenderI will put an end to your suffering.I am a persoon who has two-way conversations with Jesus every day, who walks with angels, who interacts with saints from heaven and who has a tremendous relationship with Jesus and yet I am still an Avid reader of Adam Houge Books. As a writer myself, I know that the best writing comes from the inspiration of the Holy Spirit with something that God has placed on your heart for you to teach people. The theme of this book is closer intimacy with Jesus and this book does a great job of encouraging that in the reader.I commend this book to you and the Author Adam Houge. The Revealing (Harbingers Book 5), by Bill Myers

About the Author Best-selling author. Award-winning filmmaker. To date, Bill Myers' books and videos have sold over 8 million copies. Not bad for a man who never wanted to be a writer. He grew up in the mountains of Washington State, eight miles from the nearest town. Even with all that solitude, he read very little as a child and got Cs and Ds in the only writing class he took at the University of Washington. "When a girl I'd dated all through high school dumped me our first year at college, I wandered the campus night after night, until I finally told God He could have my life, I'd do whatever he wanted regardless of how strange it was." Even though for most of his life Bill wanted to be a dentist, he kept getting the impression God wanted him to be in filmmaking. "We had quite a few arguments, but because I made that promise, I changed my major to film directing and a few weeks later found myself in Rome, Italy studying a subject I knew nothing about in a language I couldn't speak. Talk about feeling foolish." Bill fell into writing when he was directing a play in Los Angeles and a producer asked him to write a television show. "I discovered the power of writing through television and movie scripts, then books." Besides his studies in film directing in Rome, Bill holds a degree in Theater Arts from the University of Washington and an honorary doctorate from the Theological Institute of Nimes, France, where he taught. As author/screenwriter/director his work has won over 60 national and international awards, including the C.S. Lewis Honor Award. His DVDs and books have sold 8 million copies. His children's DVD and book series, McGee and Me, has sold 4.5 million copies, has won 40 Gold and Platinum awards, and has been aired on ABC as well as in 80 countries. His My Life As… book series has sold 2.1 million copies. He has written, directed, and done voice work for Focus on the Family's Adventures in Odyssey radio series and is the voice of Jesus in Zondervan's NIV Audio Bible. As an author, several of his children's book series and adult novels have made the bestseller list. He is also managing partner of Amaris Media, International – a motion picture and media company currently developing several projects for both children and adults. The motion picture, The Wager, starring Randy Travis and based on Myers' novel by the same name, was released in 2009.

A little crazy but fascinating with it's intrigue By Ian Acheson We find the team in Rome having travelled there to meet an old Cardinal friend of the professor's who may be able to provide some insight into the "document" The Girl left them in the last episode. It doesn't take long before some pretty crazy things start going down. I really liked the introduction of a search for the "Spear of Destiny", the spear used to pierce the side of Jesus at His crucifixion. Adds another layer of intrigue.I'm a little confused by a lot of what happened but I'm fascinated to know what happens next and whether we'll get any explanation for some of these strange "multiverse" occurrences.Mr Peretti is up next, for the second time. I can't wait.

But this book The Revealing, seems to be the game changer. The big picture becomes clearer in this novel, plus the group now seem to realize they have a purpose and destiny together. I've read Myers, Gansky, and Peretti's books and love them, but the other authors are great writers also. I also love the diversity of the characters, hopefully they'll have more team efforts like this.

McIver I think the suggested ages for reading this are a bit young... so maybe 11 - 14 would be better. They get pretty literal and graphic (in a good way) sharing more info then my wife and I thought was necessary for even a 11 year old boy. However, you know they're gonna hear it / learn it / talk about it soon enough and if you're conservative like us, your kiddo is probably behind the information curve. It's definitely a fast, easy read -- and suggest you read it first, then hand it to your son to read all the way through once - then come back and review each chapter. One of the takeaways and observations from other parents going through "the talk" as well -- if you're uncomfortable talking about sex with your kids... they'll be uncomfortable talking with you about sex!Make it no big deal and break the big talk into many little chunks / date nights and hopefully we do better than our parents did (or didn't do) with us!

It described things gently, but accurately. It focuses a lot on the boy and includes his relationship with God. My son has all the information he needs, but didn't need to sit through an uncomfortable talk about it.

From School Library Journal K-Gr 3—Sydney meets Greenie the sea turtle during a field trip to the aquarium. Greenie has been harmed by plastic waste that has made its way into the ocean. Sydney returns home and begins to track her family's trash production. From there, she finds out, with the help of custodian Mr. Clutterbuck, that her school produces an enormous amount of waste. Her campaign inspires an original song as well as a series of major changes in waste management and recycling at the school. In the end, Greenie is ready to be returned to the ocean and Sydney and Simon pledge to help everyone "Go Green!" The highly approachable text is beautifully complemented by Reynolds's artwork. VERDICT A well-constructed introduction to the dangers facing the environment from human carelessness.—Wayne R. Cherry, Jr., First Baptist Academy Library, Houston, TX

Review In their second STEAM-powered exploration (Full STEAM Ahead!, 2014), mouse twins Sydney and Simon investigate the problem of garbage.Sydney's foray into trash tracking starts with a field trip to the aquarium, where a green sea turtle is recuperating after eating plastic. It doesn't take much of a leap for Sydney to make a connection: "The more trash we make, the more there's a chance that some of that trash could end up in the ocean." The two keep a tally of their family's trash for a week, and the results are eye-opening. Their school is an even larger garbage generator. Ms. Fractalini helps the twins use science, technology, engineering, arts, and math to come up with a way to raise awareness and encourage the community to participate in a solution. A sculpture of Greenie the turtle made out of trash and a song about going green are the start of a communitywide movement to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Along the way, readers will learn lots about decomposition, how quickly garbage adds up, and ways to reduce trash. Ink-and-watercolor-wash illustrations help break up the text and put pictures in readers' heads that will stick with them, making them likely to want to get on the green bandwagon.Though STEAM is not emphasized as much as it was in the first book, that's not a bad thing, as it helps readers to focus on Sydney and Simon's problem-solving, which they are likely to see as quite doable in their own communities.-Kirkus ReviewsSydney meets Greenie the sea turtle during a field trip to the aquarium. About the Author Paul A. Reynolds’s childhood home was as lively as Sydney and Simon’s. His family’s ginormous supply of pencils, paper, books, and art was referred to as “the creativity tools.” Today Paul exercises his imagination at FableVision Studios, a media company he founded with his twin brother, Peter. Together they create storytelling technology, such as websites, games, and animated films. Paul is also the author of the children’s book Going Places. He lives in Dedham, Massachusetts, where his wife manages The Blue Bunny, the family’s bookstore.Peter H. Reynolds learned early on that two minds are better than one. Like his twin, Paul, he believes that the arts help us solve problems and understand the world. Peter has written and illustrated many books for children, including The Dot, Ish, and The Smallest Gift of Christmas. He also illustrates Megan McDonald’s Judy Moody series. Peter lives in Dedham, Massachusetts, where his wife runs an art gallery just across the street from The Blue Bunny.

Reynolds is the second book in the Sydney & Simon series exploring topics related to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics).Mouse twins Sydney and Simon are creative problem-solvers with a mission. While on a field trip, the pair learn that trash ends up in the ocean hurting animals like green sea turtles. They create a plan to convince the whole town to start recycling, reusing, and reducing.Written for the early and intermediate grades, the beginning chapter book includes many bright colored illustrations to engage readers with the interesting characters and storyline. In addition to the main storyline, the book includes a glossary and author’s note focusing on topics related to STEAM.Librarians will enjoy the STEAM theme that includes lots of art and music in addition to science information. Consider a makerspace station called the “steam studio” focusing on making instruments from recycled materials. Include other books related to the recycle, reuse, and reduce theme.Visit FableVision studios to learn more about the author/illustrator team at http://www.fablevisionstudios.com/.Published by Charlesbridge Publishing on October 13, 2015. By Sunday Cummins Clearly written for late 1st to 2nd grade readers being introduced to chapter books. The twin mice characters-Sydney and Simon-are like-able. The message is straightforward with very little for the reader to infer. This is appropriate for many student readers at this age or stage of reading. The content - "going green" could be used to launch a unit of study or further inquiry. The idea that our daily trash can end up in a far away ocean needs more discussion for students at this age to really grasp. I'd definitely provide opportunities for students to explore the "Great Pacific Garbage Patch" (an island of trash about the size of Texas in the northern Pacific ocean) by pairing this fictional text with nonfiction articles.

Based on Pope Benedict XVI's weekly teaching on the relationship between Christ and the Church, this book tells the drama of Jesus' first disciples — his Apostles and their associates — and how they spread Jesus' message throughout the ancient world. Far from distorting the truth about Jesus of Nazareth, insists Pope Benedict, the early disciples remained faithful to it, even at the cost of their lives.

Beginning with the Twelve as the foundation of Jesus' re-establishment of the Holy People of God, Pope Benedict examines the story of the early followers of Christ. He draws on Scripture and early tradition to consider such important figures as Peter, Andrew, James and John, and even Judas Iscariot. Benedict moves beyond the original Twelve to discuss Paul of Tarsus, the persecutor of Christianity who became one of Jesus' greatest disciples. Also considered are Stephen, the first Christian martyr, Barnabas, Timothy, Titus, the wife and husband "team" of Priscilla and Aquila, and such key women figures as Mary, the Mother of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, and Phoebe.

Jesus, the Apostles and the Early Church is a fascinating journey back to the origins of Christianity. It reveals how Jesus' earliest disciples faithfully conveyed the truth about the "Jesus of history" and how they laid the foundations for the Church, through whom people today can know the same Jesus.

Getting to know the Apostles By JTKST Pope Benedict XVI is one of my favorite writers and while some of his books are what some may call heavy reading, this book is not. He looks at each of the Apostles and gives you an insight on them that you can relate very easily with the their place in the bible and their interaction with Jesus. It gives you a chance to see these men in a more human manner that lets you see what brought them to Christ. This is one of my favorite books he has written or among my many favorites and I believe anyone who gets this book will see the people around Jesus during his 3 year ministry as people whom you can identify better with when you read the Gospels.

Review "It's an absolutely beautiful coming of age story with a heartwarming romance. I sincerely recommend this book for anybody looking for a relatively quick but moving story with a beautiful romance that will move you. If it doesn't move you, then your heart is made of icy stone." Painted Words Reviews "Such a great story about healing wounds and forgetting the past. Something I relate to, yet again. There were parts that just wrenched my heart from my chest, and I felt like crying. Only the best books can do that to me, and this book is that great. Also, is the cover not the cutest?!" Hadassah Harper      "Okay, I have say this book is was up my alley. I love reading a good YA book. The intense romance in this book was great, and it had its sad parts. I love how love heal Drew to some degree. He wasn't perfect physically and emotionally but yet I loved him. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was that I thought he fell to fast for her. I'm not saying I didn't want them to end up together but it was too fast for my taste. But an overall great book. Oh I don't know why I thought her bf was going to end up with Blake. She was a firecracker just what Blake needed."  Priscilla Garcia

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Falling for the Wrong Guy is an adorable story about Ruby By Reading Transforms I received an ebook ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Falling for the Wrong Guy is an adorable story about Ruby, who, as the title suggests, falls for a guy she can’t have. Drew was her brother’s best friend…before Blake’s girlfriend cheated with Drew…and she died in the fire Drew wasn’t able to save her from. Now Drew is recovering for being burned on 30% of his body, leaving horrible scars he’s convinced he deserves. When he comes back to school a year later, he finds himself alone and isolated. No one is happy he is back, especially Blake. But when Ruby finds herself in a group project with Drew, she’s instantly drawn to him, much like she was when they were younger and she had a crush on him. Drew had though of her like a little sister before, but now, a year later, she’s grown up and he finds himself drawn to her too. When they start seeing each other secretly, the secrets only lead to more trouble. Ruby works to bring Drew out of his state of self hatred, finding his behavior to bee to similar to her father’s, who was burned himself many years ago. When Ruby’s mother finds out, she struggles to keep Drew as a part of her world without hurting her brother. Things go from bad to worse but worse just might be what it takes to end the feud between Blake and Drew.It was a sweet story of falling for the brother’s best friend. I was super proud of Ruby’s decision to not continue her relationship with Drew if he was going to keep himself hidden in darkness and not even attempt to regain some normalcy in his life. She may want to be with him, but she took care of herself first and that’s a good message. Drew had to decide what was more important: living in regret for being a part of Reese’s death and hurting his best friend, or trying to move on with his life, forgiving himself, and being with Ruby.I did have a few problems with the fact that these kids were allowed off of their school campus. With everything going on in the world today I don’t know of any schools that let their kids wander away, project or not. As someone who works in education, that thought terrifies me. Operating under the assumption that no school would ever allow that to happen, Ruby and Drew would have never been alone and they wouldn’t have kissed, which would have been sad because then there wouldn’t be a love story. I also feel liked Drew really been that close with Blake’s family, and had Blake and Ruby’s mother treated Drew like a son, even making him a birthday cake each year, she would have at least gone to see him when he was in the hospital. Instead Blake’s family completely cut off Drew, leaving Drew isolated. I feel like no parent that treated a kid like a son would have just abandoned him like that, even if the friend had hurt the son. But again, would make the story more complicated.I love that Ruby stood up for herself and made sure she wasn’t trapped in an unhealthy relationship. She gave Drew a choice and he had to choose, but she always took care of herself. Drew had to step up and decide what he wanted. Blake had to confront his anger with Drew and decide how to live his life. Bad things happened and they are suffered the fall out, but in the end it was about choices. They had to choose to forgive and then support each other or choose to live in anger and loathing. The book explored both sides of those choices..what would happen if they choose to move on with life and what would happen if they chose to dwell in the past. It wasn’t just girl falls for boy, boy falls for girl, someone finds out and they stay together despite the fallout. It was about real life choices and how the affect people. It was a quick read, I read it in one morning. I enjoyed the story and Ruby and Drew’s relationship. It was a cute read and a solid four stars.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. I wanted to love this one so much, but it just fell flat. Some really great messages here, but not for me. By Casey M. Britton Review for Ramblings From This Chick. ramblingsfromthischick.blogspot.comFalling for the Wrong Guy is my first book by Sara Hantz. This story is a standalone young adult novel. While there were some really positive messages here and moments that I liked, unfortunately there were also a lot of things that didn't work for me. I think that there are those out there that will really enjoy this book, however there were just too many things for me that I had issues with.Mia Davis (My ARC had the heroine's name as Mia but the blurb actually says Ruby...so I am going to call her Mia since that is what I read and am familiar with) has always liked her brother's best friend Drew. But after a tragic accident occurred, her brother felt betrayed and Drew has been off limits ever since. Drew has suffered since that horrible night, but he knows that he is responsible and views all the pain and looks he gets are his karma for what happened. After taking some time off from school, he returns and finds himself face to face with Mia. No longer the cute little sister type, Drew starts to see Mia in a completely different way though he knows he needs to stay away. But when a school project forces them to work together, the feelings between them are more than either of them can fight. Can they ever hope to have anything together though when Drew feels constant guilt and Mia's brother refuses to accept them together?Part of my problem here was Drew and Mia. Mia was weak and let others walk all over her. She was a good girl, seeing the best in people and trying to be there for them. She was kind and compassionate, and yet she let others treat her horribly because of it. Instead of standing up for herself, she would apologize and be upset with herself when others reacted poorly. Drew was suffering a huge amount of guilt and grief, and yet he was just wallowing in it and lashing out at people. He had pretty much no one on his side, including his awful parents, and yet when Mia would reach out he would be an absolute jerk to her and always assume the worst. I just didn't see much improvement over the course of the story, and most of the change was right at the very end and hard to really believe at that point. I didn't feel the connection between Drew and Mia since he pushed her away so much, and when they finally did start to connect it seemed to be more on a physical level than anything. They could make out in private and that was their "being together" yet nothing could be done out in the open for others to know about, and they didn't spend any real time talking or developing a real relationship that we saw.Between the character issues and lack of development, I found myself skimming a lot and wanting to just get to the end to see what would happen. I wasn't invested, and the ending felt rushed and abrupt. I didn't buy it, and though it seemed everything turned out well wasn't that satisfying since I didn't really believe it. The overall message of not judging others based on appearance as well as forgiveness and healing were positive and I felt like they were really great for readers to see. But I just wish that the story had been better to really get the full effect of such positive ideas and themes. While I do think that this story had a lot of promise, it just fell flat.**Complimentary Copy Provided by Publisher**

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. really good! By mandy Mia has had a crush on her brother Blake's best friend Drew for years. About a year ago, Drew betrayed Blake and there were devastating consequences. When Drew finally returns to school, he's scared and not the same boy he was before. He has no friends and no confidence. Mia still sees the same boy she has crushed on for years and when they are assigned to the same class project and have to spend time together, they rekindle a friendship. They shouldn't be together but they can't fight the feelings they have for each other.I enjoyed this book but it was a lot more depressing and sad than I was expecting. My feelings were kind of torn on Drew at first but my heart just broke for him. I can't imagine having to live with the kind of guilt that he carried. Mia was a good heroine, she had a good heart and was very sweet. There were a few small things that bothered me about this story but overall I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading more by this author.
