Prosiguiendo su búsqueda llega al planeta Tierra, pero, en su enorme extensión y vaciedad, siente más que nunca la soledad. Una serpiente le da su versión pesimista sobre los hombres y lo poco que se puede esperar de ellos. Tampoco el zorro contribuye a mejorar su opinión, pero en cambio le enseña el modo de hacerse amigos: hay que crear lazos, hay que dejarse “domesticar”. Y al final le regala su secreto: “Sólo se ve bien con el corazón. Lo esencial es invisible a los ojos”. De pronto el Principito se da cuenta de que su flor le ha “domesticado” y decide regresar a su planeta valiéndose de los medios expeditivos que le ofrece la serpiente. Y es entonces cuando entra en contacto con el aviador, también el hombre habrá encontrado un amigo…» Cuando yo tenía seis años vi en un libro sobre la selva virgen que se titulaba "Historias vividas", una magnífica lámina. Representaba una serpiente boa que se tragaba a una fiera. Esta es la copia del dibujo. En el libro se afirmaba: "La serpiente boa se traga su presa entera, sin masticarla. Luego ya no puede moverse y duerme durante los seis meses que dura su digestión". Reflexioné mucho en ese momento sobre las aventuras de la jungla y a mi vez logré trazar con un lápiz de colores mi primer dibujo. Mi dibujo número uno era de esta manera: Enseñé mi obra de arte a las personas mayores y les pregunté si mi dibujo les daba miedo. -¿por qué habría de asustar un sombrero? - me respondieron. Mi dibujo no representaba un sombrero. Representaba una serpiente boa que digiere un elefante. Dibujé entonces el interior de la serpiente boa a fin de que las personas mayores pudieran comprender. Siempre estas personas tienen necesidad de explicaciones. Mi dibujo número dos era así: Las personas mayores me aconsejaron abandonar el dibujo de serpientes boas, ya fueran abiertas o cerradas, y poner más interés en la geografía, la historia, el cálculo y la gramática. De esta manera a la edad de seis años abandoné una magnífica carrera de pintor. Había quedado desilusionado por el fracaso de mis dibujos número uno y número dos. Las personas mayores nunca pueden comprender algo por sí solas y es muy aburrido para los niños tener que darles una y otra vez explicaciones.

Ozuna My family speaks Spanish but because I live in the United States I never quite learned the more formal Spanish or how to read properly. I chose El Principito because it's a great starter book to increase vocabulary in French (if reading in the original language) and in Spanish. Lots of people complain that most copies don't contain pictures but this one does (and from my extensive search on Amazon seems to be one the few or only sellers that offer them).

Although he is an excellent reader, above second grade reading level, he is not fond of reading because he does not find the books interesting. Well I ordered him the entire set of this series. Probably a dumb idea because had he not liked them I would have been stuck with 9 books. Luckily, I judged correctly. For the first time since he had discovered Minecraft, the video game, he was reading rather than playing. It confirmed Grandma's theory that it was not the reading he did not like, it was the subject matter! Yeah Grandma. So the books get 5 starts from both of us.

My son is 8 and his reading has truly improved by reading books he enjoys and he REALLY enjoys these books.

That one didn't have to take it so seriously. Since reading the bible I have realized that there is much more to it. One gets to basicly read God's diary. His love story, His adventures, how to deal with his creation. Just like the way a parent has to learn how to raise their child.I've heard people say raising children is trial and error, but it doesn't have to be. God has given us a manual. He's told of his troubles and love He has given His Children....US. How He wants to be a part of our lives. To help us through our own troubles and to rejoice in our successes. He wants to be intimate with us as a father is with His children. Not to be abandoned. He loves us dearly. I never realized how much until read Lilliet Garrison's book. It's very humbling. I was always taught to respect my elders, God deserves nothing less than my utmost respect, for who else could do what he has done. Who else would put up with their children treating them as we have done?

A Return To Writing Form By Melanie Edwards After the end of the second warriors series, i had a very sinking feeling that maybe Hunter was losing her craft. While Twilight and Sunset were good, they weren't great, and sort of laged on in the first half, only to pick up at the end. So when i heard about the new series, i was a bit hesitante. Would it prove my worst fears that maybe the Warriors books had finally worn out their welcome? With The Sight, i was pleseantly surprised to find out that wasn't so and now with Dark River, Hunter has gone back to her roots to produce her finest novel since Dawn.Life in Thunderclan continues on as usual for Jaypaw, Lionpaw, and Hollypaw, all three working as hard as ever to prove themselves Thunderclan warriors. But all is not well. Rising conflicts between clans put everyone on edge and whispers of battle are being echoed from the youngest kit to the oldest elder, a battle that may very well wash away the uneasy truce that has held the clans together for so long.Definently a must for all Warriors fans, that will more then likely reinvigorate the series to its former glory and will have all readers begging for the next instalment.

Lionpaw is training to become a warrior; Hollypaw is studying the warrior code; and finally Jaypaw is learning medicine due to his enigmatic ties to his teacher Leafpool and StarClan.In spite of the different directions their training is taking them the trio has always remains close. However, as each begins to take a slightly darker path to journey level, they start to pull apart. Lionpaw learns something that he must conceal from his siblings and others; Jaypaw discovers a secret that if revealed would help his ThunderClan at the cost of others including Starclan; and Hollypaw has uncovered a truth that could prevent a war, but no one believes her. As they war within themselves and with each other over what is a warrior, the clans seem headed to a hostile solution.The second Powers of Three Warriors book is an exciting middle school coming of age fantasy. The story line rotates perspective between the three youthful heroes with the best this time being Jaypaw's segue because he goes beyond the typical quest with an obsession for knowledge as he needs to understand why his calling is medicine; although the other two warrior entries are well written too they progress only slightly. As with the first book (see THE SIGHT), the tone remains impending doom with darkness seemingly inevitable while the three apprentices are not quite as naive as before, but retain a youthful innocence and exuberance that leads to life threatening even while learning what was before.Harriet Klausner

15 of 19 people found the following review helpful. Dark River By Blizz The second book in the third series of Warriors titles, was by no means the best, but was not all that disappointing either. The constant switching between characters made the plot seem choppy and of no real consequence (giving it the feel of filler) but there was also dark, chilling undertones that made the story come to life.We follow again the apprenticeships of Lionpaw, Jaypaw, and Hollypaw, all who struggle with their own problems, finding they can rely on their siblings less and less. The two warriors must question the code they live by, while Jaypaw delves deeper into secrets beyond his reckoning, and the meaning of a skill he has only just yet to grasp.The development of Jaypaw was very good in this book, and he seems to be evening out more, yet becoming more and more interesting. His confrontations with his mentor (Leafpool) and StarClan are heated and mysterious, and it was good to see more of Yellowfang, who it would seem is keeping an eye on the blind medicine cat apprentice.Lionpaw's story, on the other hand, seems to have gone full circle in this book, leaving me to wonder if his story (Dark River's main plot) was merely just filler. The same can be said for the subplot of Hollypaw in this book. Both of which led to a climax and ending that wrapped themselves up rather neatly. The character development of Hollypaw can only be viewed with a critical eye, and her ranking in fans may drop considerably. Lionpaw, on the other hand, made an interesting choice that may go down well with fans of the series.The real 'saving grace' of this story was the familiar dark undertones that returned from the end of The Sight (Warriors: Power of Three, Book 1). Among them, Tigerstar's return, the naivety of the three apprentices, and especially the story of those who came before the Clans, doomed in an unforgiving trial of darkness and water . . .

I am all alone, and God will never forgive me.So many girls (and woman) tell themselves these lies about their sexual or painful secrets. Cutting, alcohol, drugs, abuse, homosexual behavior...they are all ways we use to take control of our lives, but at the cost of our relationship with God.In this highly personal book, Jessie Minassian shares lessons she's learned about secret sin and God's never ending grace. Well written and readable, Unashamed would be helpful for parents of teen girls, woman still living in shame, counselors, teachers, and youth Bible study groups. Jessie uses God's word to show us how to escape the clutches of sin and to truly live in grace.Having suffered "secret sin" for most of my life, I appreciated the personal stories of Jessie and other girls who dealt with the same issues. The Enemy tells you that you're all alone, that no one will ever understand. Reading first hand accounts of other females working through the exact same problems will show you how much you've imbibed his lies, and bring you one step closer to breaking free.

The chapters end with a discussion guide that would be perfect for a small group Bible study By Amazon Customer This week I was able to review "Unashamed: Overcoming the sins no girl wants to talk about" by Jessie Minassian. Jessie digs deep into the issues that many girls face on a daily basis but are too afraid or ashamed to talk about.The first thing this book includes is a note to the parents which explains who the author is what her goal is in writing this book. The subjects range from eating disorders, drug and alcohol abuse, to sexual addictions and much more. For each subject, Jessie has written out a description of what each sin is and what God's take is on those sins. The chapters end with a discussion guide that would be perfect for a small group Bible study, and an example of a real life young woman who has struggled with those very same things mentioned.Throughout each chapter, Jessie has a strong emphasis on the Bible and how readers can apply those verses to their own lives. She also talks about forgiveness and how to forgive yourself and others.I think this is an excellent book for girls age 14+. I would probably recommend reading through the book first yourself as a parent before giving the book to your child just so you are aware what types of things they will be reading about. However, I am a strong advocate of speaking to our kids about these types of things, because if we don't, someone else will and may just give them the wrong idea on it. I rate this book as 4 stars.I received this book for free from Tyndale Publishers in exchange for my honest unbiased opinion.

As a girl who's personally dealt with subjects in this book and known other girls (as well as guys, actually) who've struggled with the same and others in this book, i can honestly say that these are wise and true words in here. It's great to have a book I can point to that's based in scripture.However, i'm also going to be honest and say that the writing style this book is written in isn't for everyone. It's just like a bible study (which is great for bible study kind of people who find this is a type of bible study they need), but it almost doesn't work here. It reads almost exactly like any other Bible study i've done, so if you're really struggling with one of the subjects in this book and need more of a serious meet-you-where-you-are, this isn't what you're looking for, it's only like 60%. That being said, it's not quite lighthearted.Jessie's book here is seriously encouraging: she gets to the hard truth without making you feelcondemned and unable to get out, she clearly lays out that, of course you need to get serious about it, but it's possible for freedom. You can even get excited about it too! If that last sentence sounded a little flowery to you in the life situation you find yourself in (assuming that's more or less the case since you're here at this book's page and reading this review), then that's about what this book is going to sound like. In that case, maybe you need to save your money at this point and check out heartsupport.com and twloha.com for guidance on where to go and what help you need.Personally, i love that i have a copy because there were some words that really rang true and prompted me to rethink some things or approach things differently, so it is 100% worth the buy! If i had to really sum it up, it's a good supplemental tool for tackling life and/or recovery, and it's also a great supplemental item to help you better understand what someone you know is going through and how to better assist them. It's a great thing to help guide conversations, but not necessarily something that's a good reliable thing to start conversations. It's really a book i would suggest reading once you've been tackling the subjects for a bit and know your commitment level and what you're getting into, i honestly don't think it's the best place to start, unless you're going into it with someone else who knows enough about the subjects to help lead and guide you.(If you happen to read this Jessie, i hope you don't mind the honest 4 star review. i am so thankful that you wrote this book; we need more unashamed voices out there in the world. i am fully confident that God can work in people through this book and that He has done the very thing with me).
