Each word deliciously tantalises and entices you for that hunger to be fed, and we are fed with laughter, joy and simplicity. Her Love reaches further than the written word, it infiltrates a desire for more. I mean more than who you think you are into the more you REALLY are. The YOU as LOVE. The YOU that is REALLY all that I AM and have always been. Thank you Carrie for revealing Awakening Awareness that LOVE as the Miracle that I AM that I AM in these simply recipes.

I'm taking it slow and easy because it's taking me very deep. I'm not done, but I couldn't wait to give the review! Thank you, Carrie!

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. I Read This Book Slowly to Really Benefit from its Insights By Pen Name Carrie, I just finished your third book, Tastes like God. Wow! What a ride. I knew it was going to be a game-changer when I saw the subtitles and also knowing it was going to be another epic tale from one of my favorite writers, You. What I was completely clueless about was how deeply your words and experiences would push, caress and excite me...all at the same time. From relating to not eating all of your food as a kid (I stuck pieces of unliked partly chewed food under my chair or threw it under my sister's chair...to get back at my Mom (unconsciously at the time) to trying so many techniques, alternative paths and listening to gurus outside me for my answers. There was no page that did not get me reconsidering my own choices in life. And not only about food! What was so remarkable was how you very carefully explained in so much lovely worded detail about how and why you began the experiments with food and Spirit, even as some were complete failures. That you kept at it to the 'not-bitter-end that I had anticipated' was a delight. I was rather gobsmacked! *throwing in a British slang for effect* ;-)I must say that the last two chapters were absolutely essential to the expanding of my own unique Spiritual Path. You were able to point out big chunks of myth in my mind about completely dumping the ego and suddenly finding the woo-woo pot of gold heaven in every step that I had been seeking and stressing over since I began traversing "the road to find out". Worth every pence paid for this tome! Truth is true! So, in a word, this book is just as entertaining and thought-provoking as your past work. Maybe even better. No judging here, just an observation. May your Unicorns fly high and land on happy rainbows.(P.S. If you are reading this review and are undecided about getting this book, try flipping a coin. If it's heads, get it. If its tails, get it. You're welcome).

Marriage is not up for debate; marriage simply is. Today the meaning and purpose of marriage has been lost, and it is our fault. The prevalence of pornography, divorce, pre-marital sex, cohabitation, infidelity, and a thousand other mistakes have blurred our vision of God’s plan for sex, family, and society to the point of blindness. The task before us is not merely to argue against the lie of same-sex marriage. Though that it is necessary, ours is a much larger project. It is time to restore among our people a sense of the profound beauty, mystery, and holiness of faithful marital love. It is time to recognize the time for defending the institution of marriage has passed. Sadly, for far too many, the marriages they know are not worth defending. Instead, Christians must take up the mission to renew and rebuild a culture that values marriage and family. To do so, we must first understand what marriage is and why it matters.

10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Marriage Is: Is Outstanding By Robert Schwarzwalder This book manages to be comprehensive, thoughtful, readable, honest and, most importantly, true to the Word of God. That's a combination to which most Christian authors only aspire, but it is one Andrew and Eric have achieved. Warm in tone and anticipatory of the main questions about the issues they address, the authors advance an understanding of marriage informed jointly by Scripture and solid research and animated by their deep concern with attacks on the institution itself. We live in an era in which something less than 50 percent of young people reach the age of 18 in a two-parent home and in which same-sex "marriage" is being heralded as a moral good and social benefit. With winsomeness, energy, and fidelity to Christian teaching, Andrew and Eric show how marriage mirrors God's saving work in Jesus Christ and the union of Christ and His church. And, too, that it is at once the foundation and the capstone of social stability and human flourishing. There are are so many books about marriage, but only a few that cover all the bases. This one covers them all while hitting a home-run for grace and truth.

8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. A compelling vision of marriage for a new generation By Joseph Sunde This book offers a compelling and robust exploration of marriage for a generation raised and conditioned by hollow rhetoric and hedonistic priorities. Deeply concerned with both the tangible and the transcendent, Teetsel and Walker remind us of the sweeping, transformative, and enduring power of the marriage union and why promoting and defending the family matters for a flourishing society.

7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. an important contribution... By Glenn Stanton I have been looking forward to this book coming out as its two authors are some of the brightest young thinkers on this important issue. To be honest, it was better than I expected. The scope with which they address the issue of the importance of marriage for society and its citizens is vast, very well targeted and tremendously up to date. this is an essential read for everyone who is interested in and concerned about the issue of marriage today, regardless of which side of the issue you come down on. It's ideas are central and must be appreciated.

"a lovely and pointed reminder that America is a land of many 'great holidays.'"—Publishers WeeklyRachel Rosenstein is determined to celebrate Christmas this year—and the fact that her family is Jewish is not going to stop her. In a series of hilarious and heartwarming mishaps, Rachel writes a letter to Santa explaining her cause, pays him a visit at the mall, and covertly decorates her house on Christmas Eve (right down to latkes for Santa and his reindeer). And while Rachel may wrestle with her culture, customs, and love of sparkly Christmas ornaments, she also comes away with a brighter understanding of her own identity and of the gift of friends and family."will help introduce young readers to other cultures while allowing them to preserve the magic of their own."—Booklist "There’s lots of humor in the text (“Dear Santa…I know that you are a fair person and will not mind that I am Jewish. After all so was Jesus, at least on his mother’s side”) and in the lively, scribbly, colorful illustrations. But the authors wisely don’t gloss over Rachel’s feelings—which can be common for anyone who doesn’t celebrate Christmas that time of year."—The Horn Book

10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Nice story and good lesson By BrittyMama This is a great story. Rachel Rosenstein is a young girl who loves everything about Christmas- but her family doesn't celebrate because she is Jewish. She begs her family to get a Christmas tree, writes a letter to Santa, and makes homemade decorations for her living room. Despite her best efforts though, Santa doesn't come which makes her sad. Later at the Chinese restaurant they go to for dinner she learns that she has other friends from school who don't celebrate Christmas and they share the different holidays that they celebrate. The thing I love most about this book is that they don't water down or lessen any holiday in order to be PC. Instead, they share the diversity of holidays that people can celebrate by highlighting each one. What a great lesson for any kid- to learn that different cultures/religions/people celebrate different holidays and that each has their fun and unique traditions. Great book for a kid who has been in a similar situation as Rachel- or for a kid who celebrates Christmas but wonders why others don't.

Perfect Hanukkah gift - I know my boys (ages 7 and 10) will be able to totally relate to Rachel Rosenstein's dilemma!

This very beautiful and lyrical extended version of the fairy tale 'The Wild Swans' by Hans Christian Andersen is the much anticipated companion to East of the Sun, West of the Moon. With strong characterization of the heroine and also with more rounded characterisation of the wicked stepmother than in the original version, and with delicate watercolor paintings throughout, this is both a wonderful story and delightful gift. Beautifully presented in a jacketed edition with foiled title.

Review 'What makes this book magical is the delicate, beautiful, emotional illustrations, with elements of the story depicted through pictures of feathers and knitting scattered around the text, as well as page spreads with dramatic colours showing the depths of emotion. It is a beautiful book in itself - its size and shape attracted me immediately, even before I began to read. A book to treasure.' -- Saffia Farr Juno "This looks exquisite. Review “The best stories enlarge our understanding of the world, excite our imagination, and make us think of THE story sung by angels in heaven. This book does all of that. It’s a rich adventure full of fantasy, yet all about the truest things in life.”--Jack Klumpenhower, author of Show Them Jesus; coauthor of What’s Up? and The Gospel-Centered Parent“Written by a true insider, this tale is rich in African texture. This allegory is sure to delight readers both young and old!”--Harry Kraus, bestselling author of Could I Have This Dance?“When Tita the chameleon climbs onto the shoulder of young Mu, he not only sets the African boy on a heart-stopping adventure, but us too. It’s a journey rich in the beauty and wonder of Africa, but it’s also—importantly—a lesson on redemption and sacrifice. Young readers will gravitate to Mu and his animal guardians, but so do the rest of us. A Chameleon, a Boy, and a Quest is for all ages a lyrical introduction to the promise and peril of Africa.”--Mindy Belz, Editor, World Magazine“What an enchanting story! Africa comes alive in Dr. Myhre’s delightful tale of a boy, a chameleon, and a dog whose adventures draw you into a deeper adventure of faith. I can’t wait to read this to my grandchildren!”--Paul E. Miller, Author of A Praying Life and A Loving Life; Director of seeJesus“Like a Narnia tale, only set in the African bush, J. A. Myhre pulls readers into an extraordinary adventure within an already unordinary world. Children (and adults) enchanted by the magic of talking animals in Aslan’s country are sure to be enchanted by the hope amidst perils found in Myhre’s Ugandan story.”--Kenneth G. Elzinga (a.k.a. Marshall Jevons), Author of The Mystery of the Invisible Hand, Murder at the Margin, and other Henry Spearman mysteries “Jennifer Myhre has written a realistic, delightful book for children of all ages. The story is told with compelling insight and compassion of a young African boy who is on a quest, but does not know why. The African landscape comes alive with animals, birds, mountains, meadows, bogs, and much more. A dog and a chameleon are loyal and faithful companions guiding him on his journey, delivering him from the ever-present enemy. And of course they speak. A must-read for parents to read to their children, and teens and adults will learn the delights and perils of the journey of life for themselves.”--Rose Marie Miller, Author of From Fear to Freedom and Nothing Is Impossible with God “Ten-year-old Mu lives in forced servitude in the loveless home of his powerful great-uncle. When plunged into a dangerous quest, Mu must summon the courage to move forward, assisted by a talking chameleon and a dog. He encounters the reality of evil in rebel fighters, child soldiers, and Ebola. His journey addresses his deepest questions: Who am I? Does anyone love me? Does my life matter? Ultimately, Mu must face evil in his own heart, and decide what sort of man he will become.  In A Chameleon, a Boy, and a Quest, Myhre captures the sights, sounds, and smells of Africa, where she has served boys like Mu and their families for decades. Like our best stories, it points to the one true Story: love, danger, betrayal, transformation. With skillful storytelling and engaging characters, Myhre has crafted an African Pilgrim’s Progress for our day.”--Maria Garriott, author of A Thousand Resurrections“In a style that is reminiscent of C. S. Lewis, Jennifer Myhre writes a genuinely captivating tale while communicating beautiful theology. Honestly, I couldn’t put this book down! I highly recommend A Chameleon, a Boy, and a Quest for ‘tweenagers’—and their parents (who will probably have to wait for their turn to read it)!”--Stephanie O. Hubach, Director, Mission to North America Special Needs Ministries; author, Same Lake, Different Boat: Coming Alongside People Touched by Disability“J. A. Myhre’s debut novella transports one to the heart of Africa, where a young orphaned boy, Mu, finds himself in harsh circumstances until he is befriended by a talking chameleon. Together they embark on a life-changing quest, overcoming real dangers such as hungry hyenas and rebel soldiers who are only to happy to make Mu their servant. Good choices precede a bad choice and Mu is forever changed. You won’t able to put the book down once you begin. We highly recommend it.”--Skip and Barbara Ryan“Here is the tale of a not particularly courageous boy, called to a journey he never expected, by a surprisingly small guide who will help him find something bigger than he has ever known. Myhre skillfully weaves layers of truth and beauty into a compelling adventure that reveals both lovely and less than lovely realities of Africa and the human heart. Together we learn that neither fear nor failure define us.”--Lisa Repko Borden, Teacher; author of Approaching God“I cannot wait to have my nephews read this book. It is laced with adventure, suspense, excitement, but most importantly, truth and light. Jen is uniquely positioned to speak about these themes and is one of the smartest and best people I know.”--Lina Abujamra, Author; speaker; Bible teacher; pediatric ER doctor“Reading A Chameleon, a Boy, and a Quest brought back happy memories of the poignant experience of reading certain favorite books I had as a boy. Lovingly written, Myhre’s book is full of local color and tense with excitement and suspense. In the end it delivers a wonderfully generous share of wisdom, empathy, and, above all, hope.”--Mike Bullmore, Senior Pastor, CrossWay Community Church, Bristol, WI

It’s a fantasy, but a different kind of fantasy in two important ways.First, it's filled with the rhythms of Africa. It immerses the reader into the daily life and hard struggles of that place. So it shows kids a part of the world many barely know.Second, it's filled with echoes of Jesus. The author understands real hope and true wisdom, and she builds her tale on those gospel themes. The book wisely never preaches; it does something better. It lets those themes settle into the imagination. Our kids need that. Please, Christian writers, give us more stories like this one.

A new African folk tale By Lisa Bartelt Because I can't get enough of Africa and Africa-themed reading, I took a chance on this book, a children's tale set in East Africa, written by a missionary mom for her children while they lived there. With a to-read pile that is about to bury me, A Chameleon, a Boy and a Quest isn't the kind of book I would usually agree to review (I received a copy from the publisher through Litfuse Publicity Group). But I'm glad I did.Think of it as a Lord-of-the-Rings style adventure--shorter, for sure, and not as well developed--but if your kids are into adventure stories that illustrate spiritual truths and point to redemption, then add it to your library.By a few chapters in, I was hooked on Mu's quest, the choices he had to make to survive, and the challenges he faced as this unexpected quest grew longer. At its heart, the book is a story of identity, and I'm a big fan of stories that help children see themselves as unique and valuable, created by God for a purpose. One of my favorite exchanges in the book between Mu and the chameleon is this:Mu, the boy, says, "Forgive my questioning, but I do not see how I could possibly have enemies interested in my whereabouts. ... I cannot imagine who would be looking for me."The chameleon replies, "That is because you cannot imagine who you truly are." (p. 77)A Chameleon, a Boy and a Quest is a story that will engage kids' imaginations and open conversations about home, identity and how choices bring consequences. But it's also a story that addresses some of the harsh realities African children face: some chapters include themes of trafficking and the actions of child soldiers. These aren't to be avoided in a realistic conversation about Africa but should be approached with caution and open discussion depending on the ages and personalities of the children reading.Mu's quest made me miss the beautiful landscapes of Kenya I saw earlier this summer, and it reminded me that for many children in Africa, Mu's story isn't fiction.
