Young artists tear apart decorated sheets of patterned paper, either their own or those found in the back of the book, paste them onto blank cards, also provided, and then slip them into the book's cleverly designed paper pockets with eight different animal-shaped windows, including a roaring lion, a splashing hippo, a colorful toucan, a trumpeting elephant, a snapping crocodile, a naughty monkey, a dashing bear, and a group portrait!

Not sure what to do next?

Sometimes the big and small decisions in life seem overwhelming. How do you know what choices to make about your career, kids, and relationships? Even when you make good decisions, how do you avoid temptation along the way?

In What to Do When You Don't Know What to Do, renowned Bible teacher Dr. David Jeremiah walks you through the book of James to glean God's wisdom on issues such as finances, faith, and decision making. What does it look like to consider God in all of your plans, depend on God rather than wealth, and put prayer above your personal efforts? It looks, as James discovered, like living a life of great joy.

I have listened to his radio programs so I am familiar with the way that he breaks down scripture in a way that is easy to under By Kyle Robertson This my first book by Dr. David Jeremiah and I thought it was very well written. I have listened to his radio programs so I am familiar with the way that he breaks down scripture in a way that is easy to understand. Anyone who is facing struggles in life can find guidance in this book, in particular why things happen and how we should deal with them. The whole book is a narrative of the Book of James. I recently watched Matt Chandler's sermon series on the same topic and found similarities between the two. Overall I would recommend this to anyone who is struggling with the road ahead of them, or anyone who may be studying the Book of James.I received this as a free ARC from David C. Cook Publishing through NetGalley.

Must Read By DeChicGirl this was the devotional book i have been looking for. i am usually disengaged with reading, but with this book look forward to getting through to the next chapter and dig into the scriptural references. dr. david jeremiah "real" way of stating life circumstances. this a sincere honest book that helps you dig through confusion and disappointment.

By In the Bookcase After hearing much about the knowledgeable Dr. David Jeremiah, I was so pleased to finally get the chance to read one of his books. What did I find out? He is a knowledgeable man of God, with much wisdom to share to Christians.'What to Do When You Don't Know What to Do' focuses on the book of James for the main scriptural readings. Chapters in this book include:What to Do When the Heat's Turned UpWhat to Do When Wrong Seems RightWhat to Do When the Mirror Doesn't LieWhat to Do When Justice Isn't BlindWhat to Do When Faith Doesn't WorkWhat to Do When Your Tongue Isn't TiedWhat to Do When Wisdom Is FoolishWhat to Do When Worship Turns to WarWhat to Do When Your Goals Aren't God'sWhat to Do When Your Net Worth Is WorthlessWhat to Do When You're in a Hurry and God Isn'tWhat to Do When Pain Leads to PrayerAlthough each topic might not hit home for you, there's still so much to learn from. I soaked in excellent points and Biblical references from each chapter, even if I don't experience the exact issue at hand. I'm sure my notes from each topic will help at a later point in my life. For example...This is the kind of book where if you were to read it 5 different times in your life, you would glean new information each time. Just because something didn't apply to you the first time you read it, it will likely mean more later on, and vice versa.Along the way, I also learned much that I didn't know before about James. I had either forgotten (or maybe didn't even know) that James was one of Joseph and Mary's sons. How could I not remember that Jesus' earthly brother contributed his writings as one of the books of the Bible? It was amazing to me to be able to see what kind of man James was in his special situation, as I was guided step-by-step through his writings -- with new eyes this time, thanks to the author."According to James, faith is made perfect by works." (Chapter 5, What to Do When You Don't Know What to Do)All of David Jeremiah's points, arguments, and actionable steps are backed by scriptures. Additionally, he often quotes from fellow religious leaders of our time and preachers from days of old. He's well-rounded in the knowledge he dispenses to the reader.Included in the back of the book, you'll also find additional material and questions to use either in personal or group study. A remarkable resource to utilize while reading the book. Thanks to the author and Netgalley for the free review copy.

Review “This is delightful entertainment. It would be a true cat-tastrophe if you let it pass you by.” (Todd David Schwartz, CBS Radio, Four Stars (Highest Rating) on Cat Coming Home)“This is excellent reading, whether you believe or not. Not to be missed!’ (Armchair Detective)

From the Back Cover

From the award-winning, critically acclaimed author of the Joe Grey series comes this magical sequel to The Cat, the Devil, and Lee Fontana

Thanks to the help of the ghost cat, thief and train robber Lee Fontana has finally beat the devil. But the big, rangy tomcat, who can appear and disappear as he pleases, knows Satan will return.

While Misto stalks Lee's dark antagonist, he also watches over nine-year-old Sammie Blake, whose cat he was in a previous life. A child blessed with a gift Satan detests: her dreams portend the future. Like Lee, Sammie has been wounded by Satan's tricks: when the devil's longtime puppet Brad Falon pulled off a deadly robbery and framed her daddy, Morgan Blake, to take the fall.

But now Morgan, behind bars, teams up with Fontana. Shadowed and nudged by the ghost cat, they lay out a plan of escape to trap Falon in his lies, to clear Morgan and to win his freedom.

This narrative picks up right where "The Cat, The Devil, and Lee Fontana" left off. Misto is watching over both Lee Fontana as he settles into a new prison and Sammie's devoted family who is dealing with the pain that Brad Falon has brought into their lives. Misto's fun-loving and thoughtful presence is felt more strongly than before. He is determined to help guide Lee to becoming a better man while giving Sammie comfort during her difficult trials. The story delves deeper into more of the characters and helps the reader begin to understand how a single choice can make a difference or bring ruin. I found it very difficult to put the novel down each night when it was time to go to bed; you too will want to see how Misto and Lee come together to face the devil for Lee's very soul. This collaborative novel, peripherally connected to the Joe Grey series, intertwines the familiar "voice" of an interfering tomcat with the setting of a younger nation filled with bank robbers, ranchers, and the law. Many tidbits and details add such an authenticity to the era that makes history fun. I highly recommend this book for those wanting to see evil faced squarely by those with the courage to do so no matter the potential cost.

By Louise Mustain I am a huge fan of Shirley Rousseau Murphy's books. I LOVE her Joe Grey/Dulsey series and through Amazon I now own all 19 of them. Always pre-order and wait impatiently for Amazon to 'send' each new one published to my Paper White. And they each rate a 5 star. But the two titles, The Cat, The Devil, and Lee Fontana and The Cat, The Devil, the Last Escape with the ghost cat Misto and Lee Fontana as the main characters just didn't capture my interest the way the Joe Grey ones do. So I rate them as a 4. They do entertain and someone else may definitely enjoy reading them. Each person has a personal reading preference. Louise Mustain March 1, 2015.

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. A Good, Somewhat Serious Paranormal Mystery By Rebecca Hutchison THE CAT, THE DEVIL, THE LAST ESCAPE is not a light-hearted read, nor is it a hard thriller. It is a good, somewhat serious mystery set after WWII involving small-time crook & former train robber, Lee Fontana, and a young father falsely accused of murder and bank robbery, Morgan Blake. The 60-ish Lee helps Morgan adapt to life in prison. They eventually hatch a plan to find the man who set up Morgan and bring him to justice. Though something dark and twisted follows both of the men, their morality and strength of soul fortify them against the devil and his minions.Morgan's nine-year-old daughter Sammie is another major character in the book. She sees the future in her dreams and is targeted by the devil for this gift. She and Lee have a strong link through the ghost cat, Misto. Although the two humans live across the country from one another, Misto appears and comforts Lee and Sammie whenever they are sad or worried. They share another crucial link which is revealed as the story progresses.Scattered throughout the book are wonderful tidbits about life in the mid-1900s: how people traveled the country, what the penal system was like, aspects of the early years of flight, how people coped during and after the war. The authors' use of these historical facts help ground the story in its time and place. However, there are a few things keeping me from giving the book five stars. The various points of view (sometimes within the same chapter) might be hard for some readers to follow. Usually it is fairly easy to understand whose side of the story is being told, but there are a couple of scenes where I had to reread a passage to determine the correct point of view. Another issue is how the first chapter is written. It's a long narrative where Misto relates his backstory with Lee and brings the reader up to date on Lee's criminal history. It seems like a dump of information that could have served better sprinkled throughout the book.Overall, I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good Columbo mystery, where it isn't about discovering who did the crime, but about how the real criminal is known, eventually reveals his part in the crime, and is finally brought to justice. It also might appeal to readers who enjoy stories set in the mid-1900s and who like a bit of paranormal mixed in with their mysteries. If You Like This, You May Also Like: JOE GREY MYSTERIES by Shirley Rousseau Murphy, MIDNIGHT LOUIE MYSTERIES by Carole Nelson Douglas, MRS. This is the true story of a pathological, serial, workplace Bully and is written by a proud survivor. Names have been changed to protect the innocent. It is a horrific tale of terror, manifested by a malevolent mind bent on selfish ambition. It is a story of how the monster worked his way into the victim’s confidence, learned his strengths and weaknesses, and even boasted to him what he was going to do before implementing his evil plan. It is a legend of how kindness and compassion are crushed by the sinister whispering campaign, how the bosses and managers were too terrified to act for fear of retaliation upon themselves. It is a textbook of psychological torture, and a miracle that anyone could survive it. But, it is also a book of hope. Of how to seek out help if you are confronted by such a Bully. A book of reasoning and forgiveness, to let us know that we are not alone. That such monsters do exist, and how to recognize them and thwart their insidious plot. I have been targeted by the same work place bully for over 13 years now. The first part of my book tells my horrific story with this very horrible person and the second part about some lessons learned. After my last horrific assault from 10/2012 - 1/2013 I felt that the only thing I can do is expose him. I hope that people will read this and take appropriate steps to prevent this from ever happening to anyone else.

I am the Director of Imbullyfree.org and we hear about this type of bullying at work all the time. Bullying does not stop after you finish school. The bully grows into an adult and continues bullying the rest of their life. Bob is a great advocate for children and adult rights when dealing with bullying. This book will help families understand the negative effects of bullying. Thanks Bob for a great book brother.Bud CollierDirector, Imbullyfree.org

By Wilbur H Highleyman Richardson's story is a very disturbing revelation about what can go on in the workplace (as well as at school). Bullying can have a profound affect on the victims - there have even been teen and pre-teen suicides over online bullying. He describes his experiences clearly and in detail, and ends the book with several steps victims can take. A must-read for anyone who feels they may be experiencing bullying.

Greetings!

We are Lord and Lady Artemiss, proud owners of what has come to be known on Ebay as "The Haunted Krausemueller Estate". Lord Artemiss has been a lifelong investigator of the Paranormal, and Lady Artemiss is a Wiccan, Seer and Spellbinder. We have owned a number of haunted houses throughout our lifetime, but never before have we encountered one as rich in finds as this one...

This estate has become a virtual treasure trove of Possessed, Spirit Inhabited, and Haunted Objects, and we have made many astounding discoveries in our explorations. But this "Grimoire", or "Book of Spells", is undeniably the most fantastic discovery of all...

We discovered in the estate, a passageway, that lead to a cleverly hidden secret room, and we soon learned that it was the "Inner Sanctum", of one of the previous occupants of the estate, the great great aunt of the old man who sold us the estate. She was known as "Lagatha Krausemueller". It was rumored that she was well versed in the practices of Witchcraft, Paganism, and even Satanism, and that she possessed amazing and extraordinary powers. It was said that she never seemed to age, and that with just a look, she could bewitch any man that she desired. They say that she mysteriously vanished many years ago, and was never seen or heard from again....

In this Inner Sanctum, we discovered a Witches Altar, and upon the altar, lay a very old and dusty book. When we able to examine it in a better setting in more detail, we discovered that it was a "Witch's Grimoire", or "Book of Spells". The cover and binding were very old and worn, and the pages brittle and torn. We had to be very careful, as the old pages were coming apart, and many were loose from the binding....

The book itself measured approximately eight inches (20cm) tall, by four and three quarter inches (12cm) in width. There were a total of sixteen pages of hand written inscription inside...with strange writing, and symbols that we did not understand. Some of the alphabet was in English, but much of it appeared to be something similar to Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphics, and some in early Greek and Roman. And some appeared to be in a language even more ancient....

The handwritten lettering and symbols were very old and faded, and we were able to translate only a portion of it, but there appear to be "Spells of Long Life and Immortality"..'Love and Sex Spells".."Spells of Power and Wealth".."Spells of Magick Potions..."Inccubus and Succubus Summoning Spells"..and even "Spells For Communicating With Satan and Making Deals With The Devil". There is more...but it is beyond our abilities to translate it....

We have never seen any of these spells transcribed in any other book or manuscript, and I believe they are either unknown spells, or perhaps they are ancient knowledge, that was lost, long, long ago. If we were to offer this very valuable original Book of Spells on our website, where we often sell many of our other discovered objects from the estate, it would most likely be quickly bought up by a private wealthy collector, and never seen or heard of again...

Instead, we have decided to make copies of it available and affordable to almost everyone with an interest in the paranormal, in both "book and ebook form". If you feel yourself especially drawn to this one of a kind Book of Spells...and feel that you have the knowledge and patience to attempt to decipher the very powerful and life changing spells contained within...then get your copy..... while it is still available....

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. but I was disappointed that nothing had been translated By Thomas H. I thought the spells would have been translated, but nothing is translated. They simply scanned in her works for us to read. It is interesting for a historical text for sure, but I was disappointed that nothing had been translated.

This book will not only tell you, who they are, what they are, but will reveal a deception, so beyond belief that your perception of reality will be forever altered! If truth is still worth fighting for, then this book will offend and I make no apologies for taking that stance. I encourage every reader to do their own research and discover for yourself that you have been “duped”, and continue to be so, by malevolent entities that do not have your best interests in mind. They have infiltrated every corridor of our daily lives from Governments of the world to the very pews you may occupy every Sunday at your local church! Every single belief you now hold is the result of a perverted reality designed to keep you in a pitch-black “prison”, of dumb-downed, presence of mind. There will be no turning back, once you discover the genuine nature of the position in space and time that you presently occupy. But, you will be armed with the truth. What you choose to do with that fact, is your decision and yours alone. You can choose to ignore it, but you cannot say you were not warned!

I'm not willing to waste my time on a book with the blurb By Richard Haven I'm not willing to waste my time on a book with the blurb: ... every reader to do their own research and discover for yourself that you have been “duped”First, if we do our own research, then we don't need your book, now do we?Second, you do not understand how quotes work. Either you are referring to the quoted words or text in a meta sense, you are repeating something that someone else said, or you mean that the quoted word or words do not have their normal meaning. If "duped" (use 1) does not really mean duped (use 3), then you are saying we have not been duped, and can go about our drab, wretched lives.

SCOTLAND SEPTEMBER 1848 Duncan Fox stood on the craggy hillside of Era Mina, squinting against the late-summer sun that drenched the Isles of Bute and Arran in a golden light. He was waiting for his canvas to dry, but his mind was elsewhere. With his hands deep in the pockets of his tweed field jacket, he was thinking about the visitors he had recently received: Sandie Calder and her children, Emily and Matt. My family, Duncan thought. From a future I can hardly imagine. He wondered if the recent hauntings he had been experiencing were a consequence of their visit. The first time he had seen the strange figure, Duncan thought what he was seeing was a lucid dream: a state where he had a solid awareness of his surroundings while he slept. He had experienced such dreams before, but never so dramatically. One week ago, he had sat up in bed, drenched in sweat, a vague feeling of dread raising the hair on the back of his neck. A gust of wind from Largs Bay swept open the curtains, carrying with it the smell of the seaside—salty kippers, crushed shells, briny sand. Reaching for the pitcher of water next to his bed, Duncan poured himself a glass, then promptly spilled it onto the floor. A shadowy figure had stepped out from the corner next to his wardrobe. He hurriedly lit his oil lamp and held it above his head as the figure morphed from a ghostly presence to a fully fleshed man dressed in a brocade robe with a thick collar plate woven in shimmering golden threads—a druid, magnificent and majestic. The druid’s robes were white with a silver helix embroidered on the breast. The vision wore a crown of twisted antlers, a fur cloak draped from iron clasps at his shoulders. His left hand gripped a scepter cut from a length of knotty white pine with a carved peryton perched on its tip, and there was a sword with a peryton at its hilt in his right hand. Duncan could see him as clearly as he could see the portrait of his own grandfather hanging on the wall behind him. The figure had remained at the foot of the bed until the light of morning banished him, leaving Fox with a vague feeling of unfinished business. This had continued for six nights. Between nights four and five, Fox had called for his carriage and ridden alone on the coast road to Ayr to seek advice from one of the oldest Guardians in Scotland. Frances MacDonald’s fingers were gnarled from arthritis, but her eyes were bright and her intellect keen as Duncan carefully described his vision. She pointed to the first volume of The History of Religion and the Decline of Magic in Scotland. “That was once required reading for our kind,” she said. “You’d do well to read it now if you’re looking for answers. Lift it down for me.” Duncan took the volume from the shelf and set the book on the table. Then he waited as her fingers slowly turned the thick pages, his hands folded behind his back, patient and respectful of her age. “Is this who’s comin’ to ye in the dark?” she asked, stepping away from the table to reveal a full-page facsimile from an illustrated manuscript. Duncan stared at the image. The white robe, the fur cloak, the wooden scepter with its carved peryton. Every detail, from the twisted crown to the silver helix on the figure’s breast, was identical to the figure who had been appearing at the foot of his bed. “That’s him!” he said in astonishment. “Who is he?” “He is Albion. The Guardian of the Beasts in Hollow Earth.” The old woman returned to her chair next to the cottage’s bay window and lifted her knitting onto her lap. Despite her twisted fingers, her knitting needles clacked with unnatural speed. “Hollow Earth?” Duncan repeated. “Aye.” She nodded. “Hollow Earth. Many think the place a mere story told to children. But it is as real as this room. “Albion is the first of our kind. He was called to these islands in a dream. Some believe it was the twin perytons, the black and the white, that called him to found the monastery on Auchinmurn as a safe haven for Animare and Guardians alike.” Fox perched on the edge of a wooden chair, listening intently. The old woman set her needles on her lap and continued. “The beasts who now live only in our stories, our myths and fables, once lived and breathed in Albion’s world. Griffins, basilisks, selkies, and more. But when magic was no longer trusted and the world had new ways of explaining matters, there was no safe place for creatures such as these. It was Albion who began the task of sealing the beasts away. He started The Book of Beasts, indexing and categorizing as he locked them far beneath the islands in the place we call Hollow Earth.” “Have you ever heard of Albion manifesting himself in dreams in this way?” Duncan asked. “Outside Hollow Earth?” The old woman’s eyes were starting to droop. Outside her window a farmer on his milk cart trundled along the cobbled street. “I have heard it said that Albion is the one from whom we are all descended,” she mumbled. “Which makes the Council laws that keep us apart, when we’re all from the same stock, as daft as dust.” Her chin dropped to her chest. Duncan realized she was snoring. Quietly he lifted his overcoat from the back of the kitchen chair, pulled a bill from his money clip, and set it under the marmalade jar at the center of the table. As he lifted the latch on the door, the old woman suddenly roused. “Mr. Fox,” she said. “If yer visitor is Albion, then you and your sons and daughters may be in danger.” Duncan smiled in surprise. “Mrs. MacDonald, I am a . . .” . . . confirmed bachelor. He stopped himself from finishing the sentence. The old woman was referring to Sandie and the twins.

The Barrowman siblings are excellent writers, and storytellers. If you are looking for something that is unique, and well-constructed--in the fantasy realm--check out the Hollow Earth series!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. wonderful conclusion to this trilogy By Amazon Customer wonderful conclusion to this trilogy, the only bad thing was was that the part that was actually in hollow earth was over really quickly and the book ended so suddenly, would have loved the book to have an epilogue or something to let you know what happened afterwards. but the whole story of drawn pictures coming to life by animare and the psychic suggestions of the guardians was top notch, loved every bit of the antics of this trilogy, the characters were great, Matt and Em definitely weren't your usual pre teen Emo whiners of the last 'vampire craze'. So sad the trilogy has ended!
