What Will Hell Be Like?, by St. Alphonsus Liguori

About the Author St. Alphonsus Liguori was born in 1696 to Neapolitan nobility at Marianella, Italy. He became a recognizable lawyer after going through law school at the age of sixteen, but later decided to leave law in favor of giving his salvation more attention. Alphonsus joined the Oratory of St. Philip Neri as a seminarian and was ordained in 1726, when he was thirty. The homilies he gave had the special ability of converting those who had fallen away from the faith. He also founded the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, and authored such works as The Glories of Mary, The True Spouse of Jesus Christ, Attaining Salvation, The Blessed Virgin Mary, Preparation for Death Abridged, What Will Hell Be Like?, The Twelve Steps to Holiness and Salvation, and The Way of the Cross. After being a bishop for over a decade, St. Alphonsus Liguori died on the first of August, 1787. He was canonized by Pope Gregory XVI in 1839, and declared a Doctor of the Church in 1871. His feast is celebrated on August 1.

He is after all a saint and a Doctor of the Catholic Church. This small booklet is quite extraordinary and very well written with many biblical references. It is a must have in your library. I thought so much of this booklet that I bought 50 more to hand out to my friends. Do I like it? You bet and I believe once you read it you will be back for more writings of St Alphonsus.

This book was not written 'by' St Alphonsus, but is another author's thoughts and contains excerpts by St Alphonsus. St Alphonsus was a prolific writer. I thought this was another of HIS books. You still may find this book interesting and a at great price.

I even watch TV shows about them and I am really fascinated with how they work. This book has given me so much insights about what Wicca is and how it is superior as compared to other religions. I also love the spells given here. I have now a bigger picture of what Wicca is. This is really so interesting. I've always been captivated by topics involving witches and Wiccans. And the details I got here added some essential information that help me further in my total comprehension about the Book of Shadows, the right Herbs to be used, some rituals, and so much more!

This book will help us fully understand on what wicca really is and its 5 elements. Everything we need to know about wicca is well written and detailed here. This book will also guide us on how we can use spells, rituals, and candle magic correctly. I also learned here the basics of magic. This book will help us understand those spells and how we can cast a spell in the right way. I also learned here on how I can use candles in a wiccan ritual. Exceptional work!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Good concept but neglects important kid locations By MaxAndMe I bought this book to supplement a Pre-Kindergarten unit on Austin. Generally, I like the layout and concept of the book. However, I wish the illustrations were a little less cartoonish and I am somewhat disappointed with the selection of locations. As an Austinite, parent and teacher, the places I feel are most relevant to kids are the ones that are unique to Austin and that kids can experience with their parents. I was especially disappointed to see that businesses like iFly and the Austin Aquarium showed up in the book... these locations are relatively new to Austin, are not publicly funded and are not unique to our city. Also, iFly is for older kids and this book is clearly for young children - the Zilker Zephyr or Dino Pit - two places preschoolers can identify with would have been much better choices.Must-haves included in the book: The Wildflower Center, Barton Springs, The Austin Zoo, Bats at Congress BridgeMust-haves NOT in the book: Zilker Zephyr (Description says ZZ is in the book, but it is not), Dino Pit, Lady Bird Lake, Texas State Capitol Building

About the Author Naoshi is an internationally acclaimed Japanese illustrator whose distinctive characters and original style are recognized around the world. She uses shiny colorful sand, called Sunae in Japan, to create surreal people living in the real world. In her effort to familiarize more people with Sunae outside of Japan, she has participated in a wide range of projects including gallery exhibitions, commercial work, and children’s workshops. Naoshi is a Tokyo based artist currently living in Los Angeles.

Quirky and Delightful By Pam Walton Ice Cream Work is a playful, creative and delightfully quirky book that appeals to children, teens and adults alike.Naoshi's art work is unique and engaging. She has mastered the technique of SUNAE. In Japan, SUNA means sand and E stands for drawing. All the pictures are created using colored sand and there are detailed directions with pictures in the back of the book to show the reader how to make SUNAE on their own. Each page has beautiful colors and remarkably fine detail (especially considering she created the pictures with sand!). The illustrations appear to have an interesting texture and depth which you don't see with other types of art mediums.The tiny visual details throughout the book are amazing. When I was a young girl, I used to love books that had unusual illustrations that sparked my imagination. This book rekindles those memories of my youth and causes me to become lost in the amusing and creative fine points in the art work. I brought the book to the school where I teach and my junior high students loved it. The pictures kept them fascinated for much longer than I expected. Many of my students love Japanese art, cartoons and music and the style of this book was very appealing to them. Although the story line is fairly simple, the artwork is not. The art speaks even more loudly than the text. Each time the book is read, there are more details to be noticed and appreciated.On a literary level, I love the theme of working hard with a happy attitude and also enjoying free time. Work hard and play hard. Ice Cream Man goes "cheerfully off to work" and we follow him on his adventures. Every day brings a new and exciting role - he enjoys life whether he is a party popper, road cone, sunflower, golf ball or night light. Ice Cream Man could easily represent a boy or a girl because of the way he is drawn so children of both genders can easily pretend like they are Ice Cream Man.After a long week of work, Ice Cream Man gets to take a much deserved break. Working hard, playing hard and feeling excitement for what each day may bring - those are things that I can totally stand behind.A fun addition to the story is the "Look & Find" section after the story. People can search for the Worried Monkey, Jealous Girl, Pretending Interest Cheetah, Bathing Lemon and so on. I can't help but wonder if perhaps these items and characters represent something to the author - like a little inside joke that we are left to guess about.So if you want an engaging and unusual gift for yourself or a friend, this is a good bet. It would be fun to put a gift card to an ice cream shop with it. You won't be disappointed.

A Whimsical Surrealist Introduction to Sunae By Jennet Jones, Feathered Nest Studio Naoshi (Naoko Kikuchi) is a Japanese artist famous for her sand paintings, called Sunae. I had the pleasure of being asked to review a copy of her new book, Ice Cream Work, which is a surrealist treat for the eyes. Each page is another one of Naoshi’s lush sand paintings, showcasing a different day of the week in the life of Ice Cream Man. The reader should consider this book not only a wonderful introduction to Sunae (since all of the illustrations in the book are sand paintings) but also a great introduction to surrealism. Normal scenes like road construction are merged with food having human-like qualities and the main character, Ice Cream Man, has a different unusual job for each day, like being a construction cone or golf ball. Other pages show animals with clothes peaking out on golf course hills and lemon head people bathing in tea cups. The juxtaposition of ordinary scenes with simply fantastical elements make each page a surprise.This book is great for children and the “look and find” pages in the back of the book are not only fun but also make sure kids really look at each art spread.The book concludes with a brief introduction on how to make your own Sunae. I know I was inspired after reading the book and was eager to make my own sand painting!

Fun and Imaginative Children's Book By Brooke Bumgardner Ice Cream Work by Naoshi is not a typical book that I would just choose off the shelf to read. I'm really glad I had the chance to read this one for this book tour. Ice Cream Work by Naoshi is imaginative and whimsical. My daughters (ages 13 and 4) both enjoyed this book. They loved the illustrations and the different situations Ice Cream Man ended up in. They had a lot of fun going back through the book to find the hidden pictures. My older daughter became fascinated with the process of Sunae and it was great to see her interested in something we might never have known about otherwise.I really enjoyed the beautiful work Naoshi did throughout the book. Each page is bright and bold. The images really jump at you. I was pleasantly surprised by how much we all enjoyed this. The first time we read it, I was unsure what to expect. As soon as I finished, I went through it again. I felt the story taught a good lesson about working hard. Ice Cream Work by Naoshi is going on my keeper shelf. I think this is one my girls will enjoy for years to come.I received a complimentary book for review purposes. My honest opinion was not influenced in any way.

You get to know Hannah and Benjamin when they are years older, but still in love. I liked that it wasn't the usual teenage love story. There's nothing wrong with that, but this was a nice change. It's also nice to get three books for the price of one.

Here we have two people who come together again after major life changes and have a second chance at love. I liked the subplot with the daughter.
