For 25 years, Joseph Kony and his Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) terrorized Northern Uganda. They abducted children and forced them to commit atrocities against their own families and communities. Girls as young as thirteen were degraded to sex slaves for Kony's officers. Now, the war is over but the decades of brutal conflict have deeply scarred the people of Uganda. Child soldiers return to the very communities they committed violent crimes against, and the girls carry with them a constant reminder of their abuse: their captors' children. These girls and their children are often ostracized by their communities, and most lack the skills they need to provide for their families. Sewing Hope tells the story of one woman's fight to bring hope back to her nation. Sister Rosemary Nyirumbe presides over Saint Monica Girls' Tailoring Centre, School in Gulu, Uganda. She lived through the horror created by Kony's LRA and now works to heal the wounds he inflicted on her people. She invites formerly abducted girls to Saint Monica where they learn skills to provide for their families. Through vocational training, these young women gain independence. Through community with their fellow students, they find forgiveness. Through the restoration of their lost futures, they find hope. 100% of the net proceeds go to Pros For Africa to help support Sister Rosemary and her efforts.

By Aftermath Joseph Kony is infamous for what he has done to the lives of thousands of children in Northern Uganda and elsewhere in Central Africa. We know his dastardly story. What we need to know is about the heros that emerged in the midst of the terror to love these children back to dignity and hope. No one I have seen or heard of in many trips to Africa has done more to bring light into this dark situation than Sister Rosemary. She is amazing and this book captures her love and dreams so wonderfully. Rosemary is a joyful, strong woman bringing hundreds of girls who were forced to kill loved ones and were also raped and made sex slaves back to life. Rosemary is restoring hope through teaching these girls how to make a living and also to learn to love and care for their unwanted babies. Only great love like Rosemary's can overcome such great evil...get this book and fall in love with an amazing force of hope named Sister Rosemary.

Sewing Hope - A documentary celebrating the life of Sister Rosemary Nyirumbe By Patricia Smith "I am currently reading the Kindle version of "Sewing Hope". I can't put my tablet down. I am so impressed by the clarity of the story told. Reggie Whitten has shared Sister Rosemary's plight to bring up the awareness of the atrocities against 'children' in Uganda, Atiak and The Sudan.Sister Rosemary is the 'Sister Teresa' of this era in time. I am so humbled by what she has done. I am so thankful to GOD that Sister Rosemary loved / loves these children more than she does her own life.I highly recommend this e-book. Can't wait til the hard cover book is out to purchase as well. I hope to get it autographed by Sister Rosemary and Mr. Whitten."May GOD bless you Sister Rosemary and PROS FOR AFRICA.Patricia SmithCNN iReporter[...]

I was impressed with everything she had done and continues to do before reading this biography, and I am now even more humbled. I recommend this to anyone planning to volunteer, anyone who knows someone who has done any type of mission work, anyone wanting to learn more history of northern Uganda, anyone who wants to read of the works possible through God, and anyone looking for a reason to support missions. This book is also extremely well written so you don't lose any of the essence with fancy language or difficult prose. I'm looking forward to seeing the film version and hope to buy more copies for the strong women in my life and for all those who have encouraged my work with missions so they may also learn the story behind the people.
