Saben It is so rare to find a well-told, beautifully illustrated story of someone who was willing to sacrifice great earthly artistic potential for the sake of Christ. Lilias Trotter sets an admirable example, and she was not disappointed. I highly recommend this book!

Lily: The Girl Who Could See By David Rainey From the time she was five years old to the end of her life, Lily: The Girl Who Could See, gives us a brief pictorial jaunt through the life of Lilias Trotter (1853-1928). Through the years, we see Lily develop both in her artistic abilities and in her relationship with God.Lily was a gifted artist. John Ruskin, the famous English art critic, was Lily's art teacher. He encouraged her to devote her life to art, but Lily chose a different path: she decided to give her all to God by serving the people of Algeria in North Africa.The beautiful illustrations are color paintings done by Tim Ladwig. They are truly a visual delight. This is a great picture book that will leave readers wanting to learn even more about the fascinating life of Lilias Trotter.

Wish there were more children's books out there like this for christians. Lilias Trotter has been a long time favorite of mine and so glad to see her story in a childrens book. You won't be disappointed if you get this for a special child in your life. Rich illustrations and well written.
