About the Author Bhakti Mathur, private banker by day, mother to Shiv and Veer (seven and five years old) and an avid delver in Indian mythology at all other times is the creator of the Amma Tell Me books a series of picture books about Indian festivals and mythology for children in the three to nine year age group. She wrote and self-published her first book, Amma Tell Me About Holi! in 2011 and over the next 3 years, the series has grown with books on the festival of Diwali, the Hindu epic Ramayana and stories about the Hindu gods, Krishna, Ganesha and Hanuman. The real motivation for writing the Amma Tell Me series was to share with my sons the fascinating stories from Indian mythology that I had grown up with, says Bhakti. But, I found that there were no resources that were simple to understand and that captured the rich imagery of mythological India that is such an integral part of these stories for me. So I went ahead and started writing the stories in a style that I think kids find fun and non-preachy and collaborated on the illustrations to bring out the imagery that I want my stories to convey. Bhakti grew-up in Delhi. She studied at Modern School Vasant Vihar. She obtained her graduate degree in Economics and her post graduate degree in Finance from Delhi University. She is a CFA charter holder. She currently works for a major Swiss Bank and lives in Hong Kong with her husband, their two sons and their two dogs. Bhakti is a committed writer ambassador for Room to Read, a global non-profit which offers holistic literacy and girls education programs. An avid reader, a long-distance runner and a yoga enthusiast, when not working or running after her boys, she is happiest curled up with a book in her hand and a hot cup of chai.

By ST The last in the Krishna Trilogy, "Amma Tell me how Krishna Defeated Kansa" is an action-packed book with something we all love - a Happy Ending! Bhakti, once again manages to beautifully retain the essence and depth of the mythological tale while simplifying it for young readers. Maulshree literally brings the story alive with her illustrations! A complete delight for kids and parents too!

By Sivaji Rao It is a delight to watch kids enjoy Bhakti Mathur's story books on Hindu Mythology. The beautiful combination of simple, child-friendly story telling and the eye-catching illustrations make them a must for young kids. I had a real to taste of it when our 4 year old grandson, Siddarth Rao listened to the reading of Bhakti's "Amma Tell Me How Krishna Defeated Kansa" by Alexa Sharples.

About the Author Reggie Whitten is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma ('77) and its law school ('80). He practices law full-time in Oklahoma City with the firm Whitten Burrage and is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, which limits its members to the top one-percent of a state's attorneys. In his spare time, Whitten visits schools throughout Oklahoma to recount the story of his eldest son's death from an addiction to prescription drugs. It was this tragedy that led Whitten to meet Sister Rosemary Nyirumbe and begin his philanthropic work. The co-founder of two organizations, Pros for Africa, and FATE (Fighting Addiction Through Education), he previously co-authored a book about his son's addiction, What's Your Fate?, with his dear friend Jim Priest. In honor of his son Brandon, who loved dinosaurs as a child, Whitten also co-founded ExplorOlogy and co-founded Native Explorers, an educational program that seeks to inspire young people to get involved in science. To date, more than 53,000 kids have completed the program. Whitten was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 2013 and currently lives in Edmond, Oklahoma.

By Aftermath Joseph Kony is infamous for what he has done to the lives of thousands of children in Northern Uganda and elsewhere in Central Africa. We know his dastardly story. What we need to know is about the heros that emerged in the midst of the terror to love these children back to dignity and hope. No one I have seen or heard of in many trips to Africa has done more to bring light into this dark situation than Sister Rosemary. She is amazing and this book captures her love and dreams so wonderfully. Rosemary is a joyful, strong woman bringing hundreds of girls who were forced to kill loved ones and were also raped and made sex slaves back to life. Rosemary is restoring hope through teaching these girls how to make a living and also to learn to love and care for their unwanted babies. Only great love like Rosemary's can overcome such great evil...get this book and fall in love with an amazing force of hope named Sister Rosemary.

I am so impressed by the clarity of the story told. Reggie Whitten has shared Sister Rosemary's plight to bring up the awareness of the atrocities against 'children' in Uganda, Atiak and The Sudan.Sister Rosemary is the 'Sister Teresa' of this era in time. I am so humbled by what she has done. I am so thankful to GOD that Sister Rosemary loved / loves these children more than she does her own life.I highly recommend this e-book. I was impressed with everything she had done and continues to do before reading this biography, and I am now even more humbled. I recommend this to anyone planning to volunteer, anyone who knows someone who has done any type of mission work, anyone wanting to learn more history of northern Uganda, anyone who wants to read of the works possible through God, and anyone looking for a reason to support missions.This book is also extremely well written so you don't lose any of the essence with fancy language or difficult prose. I'm looking forward to seeing the film version and hope to buy more copies for the strong women in my life and for all those who have encouraged my work with missions so they may also learn the story behind the people.

10 of 11 people found the following review helpful. Horrible By Amazon Customer I am sorry I wasted my money on this... The writing is awful, and the ending was worse. There are so many good, thoughtful, and very well researched books on the Holocaust out there. This, sadly is not one of them. The writing is stilted, the characters speak in oddly formal tones, the story itself goes in twenty different directions, and the premise ( of a man seeking revenge on his Nazi tormentor) while it is a good one, comes off as totally unbelievable. How this got so many starred reviews on Amazon is beyond me... The author must have a lot of friends :( My suggestion if you want a book on this topic is to read Sarah's Key, or All the Light We Cannot See... Even Once We Were Brothers is better than this.

It is not common for me to read a book in only a couple of sittings and I would like to say By Bob Beebe The Chemist's Shop by Richard Brumer is thought provoking psychological thriller that quickly grabbed my attention and did not let go.It is not common for me to read a book in only a couple of sittings and I would like to say, this was one of those books. The pace is lively and creative, yet logical which helps to make the novel a pleasure to read. The book has two main characters- a Nazi officer and a Jewishprofessor of Pharmacology who met briefly at Auschwitz during the Holocaust in the 1940s. In a quite believable sequence of events thesetwo meet again in the year 1970 in America at the Chemist's Shop. The Chemist's shop in the story is a pharmacy in upstate New York whichthe professor recently started as a new career/investment to coincide with his retirement from the university.The Chemist's Shop is actually a number of plots woven on many levels over many timelines spanning years. Twenty five years later [1945 to 1970] a location an ocean apart and even the Anglicizing of the two main character's names can not stop fate from bringing these two peopletogether. It is a tragic love story, a story of inner moral crisis and a conflict of emotions, a duel between two people. There are flashbacks where the main character daydreams and speak to his deceased wife, a diary of sorts which lends depth and context to the storyline, cleverly placed clues which help to add suspense as the plot unfolds. I also found the book was quite educational and raised many ethical and philosophical points concerning the history of the two World Wars. The Chemist's Shop was one of the most original books I have ever read. I believe it reflects very much on the life of the author and his obvious love for the craft of writing. I strongly recommend this book.

Helpful read for aiding with discouragement By Kevin This book is an excellent book for those who are looking for answers as to why they feel disappointed, discouraged or even depressed. The author speaks directly but with care, about how we should respond to feelings of disappointment. Her own personal experiences give us understanding that helps us apply the truths. It challenges us to examine ourselves. The author answers the question, "Why do I feel disappointed?" with her definition of disappointment: "An unfulfilled self-appointment, expectation, longing, desire, or hope in someone or something other than God and His will, resulting in feelings of loss, sadness or even depression." She shows us through the lives of Biblical people how to pinpoint our disappointments and change our thinking, and have hope. As the author says, "Placing all your hope in God and in the will of God for your life is the only way to never experience disappointment."

Have you ever heard about Reiki. Yes, you probably have. Maybe you are already aware of what it implies, or even more, maybe you're a consistent practitioner, and try to apply Reiki several times a month. You see, in life we are ALL in the same game, and yet most people don't realize it. Most people don't even take the time to think HOW they can heal their bodies, calm their minds, and supercharge their brains. Most people don't even know what Reiki does to your system. And guess what. That's precisely why a large majority of the world's population so desperately need it. They aren't living, they are surviving, transiting lives filled with discomfort, depression, and sub-optimal bodies and thinking patterns. And so I did, back before I was introduced to the world of Reiki. It took me time to get started. It took me a lot of time and effort to incorporate the secrets that would ultimately shape my entire life!

This is easy to follow and has a great introduction on what Reiki is and the benefits that can come from practice. It really have the power to heal our emotions that no medicine can cure. After reading this book, I already know how to balanced my mood. I am very thankful to the author of this book!

TBH, I never heard of it before I read this book. However, there's a ton of great info about massages and other techniques for beginners that helped me out. I do wish, however, that there was some images or illustrations to help me picture it out better, but a guy can't be too picky.
