The Magical Animal Adoption Agency, Book 1 Clover's Luck, by Kallie George

From School Library Journal Gr 2–4—Clover believes that she has bad luck. She keeps losing her pets and her best friend got into horse camp without her. She is dreading her summer. This changes when her latest pet, a bird, escapes after a baseball breaks a hole in her window. She follows her bird into the scary woods where no one is willing to go. Clover soon finds a sign advertising the need for animal lovers to volunteer at an agency called the M.A.A.A. She follows the directions, discovering an animal shelter that is like nothing she has ever seen. It is full of magical creatures like unicorns and dragons. Clover's summer is now far from terrible, but she must keep her job a secret. When the youngster is left in charge for several days, she must deal with a pesky princess and a wicked witch while finding magical animals a good home. This story is cleverly told and Clover is an endearing protagonist. George writes descriptively, making readers feel at home in the cottage filled with visual wonders, delicious cinnamon toast, and surrounded by a forest carpeted with feathery moss. VERDICT This new chapter book series is perfect for young readers who love animals and fairy tales.—Kris Hickey, Columbus Metropolitan Library, OH

Kallie George’s The Magical Animal Adoption Agency is the heartwarming story of Clover, a lonely young girl who, despite her name and love for animals, is convinced she’s unlucky. When her best friend takes the last available spot at horse camp and leaves Clover behind for the summer with her always-working parents and her newest pet escapes, Clover is certain she’s cursed.Clover’s luck begins to change, however, when she ventures into the woods one afternoon and discovers the Magical Animal Adoption Agency. Filled with magical, exotic, and entertaining creatures from colorful toads to majestic unicorns, gentle miniature horses, and exciting fire breathing salamanders, the Magical Animal Adoption Agency introduces Clover to the exciting world of mythical animals and provides her with the opportunity to care for the animals on a daily basis while she helps them find a loving forever home amongst a series of creative characters that range from a princess to a woodsman to a witch. The funny, captivating, sensational adventures Clover experiences while volunteering at the Agency along with the relationships she forms with each of the animals that fall under her care help teach Clover confidence, the importance of following her heart, and that sometimes the best of luck comes from within. This book is the perfect, quick read for children ages 6 to 10- especially those who love animals and have an expansive imagination. It’s also a great read for those who sometimes feel like Clover- a little bit lonely and a little bit down on luck. I shared this book with my six-year old niece, an avid dreamer, and she was immediately captivated by the creative animals created in Clover’s magical world and wanted to have more time with the gentle creatures. After she finished reading the book, she spent weeks drawing her favorite animals and even put together a list of all of the different imaginary creatures she’d hope to encounter herself, should she discover her own Magical Animal Adoption Agency.

Do you love love animals, especially enchanted ones? Have you ever felt that you were unlucky? Have you felt like nothing ever goes your way? If you've ever felt any of these or are feeling down on your luck, than this is a story for you! It's also a story if you've never felt these things. This story is about Clover. Clover is a young girl who believes in magic, loves animals, including the enchanted ones, but she feels unlucky. Then something happens, and she begins to realize that no matter what is going on around her, she can make the most of her situation. She can create her own personal lucky happenings.Clover hasn't always had the best of luck. Feeling down on her luck when plans fall through, things go from bad to worse, as her pet bird gets out and flies away. Clover follows her bird to the woods, a place she and the other village children have always feared, in hopes of trying to capture it. The deeper she ventures in after her bird, the more she discovers just how lovely the woods are. Lucky for Clover, she stumbles upon a magical, secret place. The Magical Animal Adoption Agency.Sworn to not tell anyone about this place, Clover soon discovers that this is a place where she will learn to overcome her streak of bad luck, trust in herself, and learn to make her own kind of luck. Here, Clover takes care of magical animals. Animals like a baby dragon, unicorns, and other special creatures. Here, Princesses, Princes, Kings, Queens, Witches and many other people come to adopt an animal. Being that this is a secret place, means those from Clover's village don't know about this place. Just those you'd read about in fairy tales. There's no such thing in being unlucky. You just have to learn how make your own lucky happenings. Thanks to a cute a little cat, Clover realizes that when bad things happen, it's up to her to make the best of the situation. I really liked Clover. There's something about her I think everyone can relate to. I loved reading her story. The setting for Clover's story was perfect! I wished I could have worked side by side with Clover at the Magical Animal Adoption Agency.I really enjoyed this book. The illustrations in this book are simply adorable. It's the perfect story to read out loud with you children, or in a classroom setting. It's a great book for those who have advanced from the beginning reader books into chapter books.I am looking forward to reading more books in this series.

I received the second of this series as an ARC, so I had to give the first one a go. I am so excited that I have the next one already!I love books that I can share with my kids immediately, ones that they are eager to read and breeze through almost as quickly as me. When my daughter saw the cover and learned there were unicorns she was instantly attracted. This book surely did not disappoint either of us.We begin by meeting Clover, a fun little girl who considers herself hopelessly unlucky. She has a terrible track record with pets but loves them so much she desperately wants to turn her luck around. Clover has another unlucky experience when her best friend goes away to Riding Camp and then her newest pet canary flies away through a broken window. This leads our young friend in the forbidden Woods where she soon finds herself volunteering at an animal adoption agency. But this Adoption Agency isn't for just any animals, and the clientele is nothing like she's ever seen.Clover is quickly given responsibility and finds herself learning more and more about responsibility, magic and what luck really is.It's fun and quick, my daughter and I each read it the same day. We loved the illustrations. The pace was quick with some fun turns. The villain is the perfect combination of wicked but not too scary. My younger daughter is reading it now and the chapters are just the right length for her. It's definitely geared toward a younger audience. I loved the sweet little ending, summed up with a wonderful moral and just enough introduction into the next.

An art-inspired gift that makes learning to name and explore wildlife a family adventure. Larger-than-life black and white drawings are paired with poetic texts that reveal the ways in which endangered creatures - including lions, elephants, giraffes, tigers, gorillas, penguins, Ethiopian wolves, macaws, turtles and zebras - live on Earth. Artworks by wildlife artist Stephen Walton are rendered in charcoal and give little ones the chance to get up close and personal with nature's wildest creatures. Virginia McKenna - actress and wildlife campaigner - has written a foreword which urges us to look at the beauty of these animals and do all we can to save them. A 5% royalty will be donated to her Born Free foundation.

What is the highest good in life that anyone can pursue? In Latin, there is a term summum bonum, which means “the highest good out of which all good flows.” Many pursue wisdom, social justice, wealth, power, or physical strength as the highest good in life. However, none of these compare to the benefits of knowing God. Listen to what the Lord said through the prophet Jeremiah: Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me. Jeremiah 9:23-24 The highest pursuit in life is a deep and intimate knowledge of God, and it is from this intimate knowledge that every good thing flows. Love, joy, peace, perseverance, patience, forgiveness, and anything else that is good flows from knowing God. Let us pursue a deeper knowledge of God together with the aid of the Bible Teacher’s Guide. “Expositional, theological, and candidly practical! I highly recommend the Bible Teacher’s Guide for anyone seeking to better understand or teach God’s Word.” —Dr. Young-Gil Kim, Founding President of Handong Global University “This study could be used by pastors as an aid for sermon preparation, by small group leaders, or by any believer who wants to understand and apply God’s Word personally. I can’t imagine any student of Scripture not benefiting by this work.” —Steven J. Cole, Pastor, Flagstaff Christian Fellowship, Author of the Riches from God’s Word series

Review "Whether you are preparing a Bible study, a sermon, or simply wanting to dive deeper into a personal study of God's Word, these will be very helpful tools." --Eddie Byun, Author of Justice Awakening   "I am happy that Greg is making his insights into God's truth available to a wider audience through these books. They bear the hallmarks of good Bible teaching: the result of rigorous Bible study and thoroughgoing application to the lives of people." --Ajith Fernando, Teaching Director, Youth for Christ; Author of A Call to Joy and Pain  "The content of the series is rich. My prayer is that God will use it to help the body of Christ grow strong."  --Dr. Min Chung, Senior Pastor of Covenant Fellowship Church (Urbana, Illinois)"The Bible Teacher's Guide is thorough but concise, with thought-provoking discussion questions in each section. This is a great tool for teaching God's Word." --Dr. Steve Pettey, Dean of Louisiana Baptist Theological Seminary"Knowing the right questions to ask and how to go about answering them is fundamental to learning in any subject matter. Greg demonstrates this convincingly." --Dr. William Moulder, Professor of Biblical Studies at Trinity International University"Pastor Greg is passionate about the Word of God, rigorous and thorough in his approach to the study of it... I am pleased to recommend The Bible Teacher's Guide to anyone who hungers for the living Word."--Dr. JunMo Cho, Worship Leader and Recording Artist; Professor of Linguistics at Handong Global University"Expositional, theological, and candidly practical! I highly recommend The Bible Teacher's Guide for anyone seeking to better understand or teach God's Word." --Dr. Young-Gil Kim, Founding President of Handong Global University   "I can't imagine any student of Scripture not benefiting by this work." --Steven J. Cole, Pastor, Flagstaff Christian Fellowship, Author of the Riches from the Word series"Helpful to both the laymen and the serious student, The Bible Teacher's Guide, by Dr. Greg Brown, is outstanding!" --Dr. Neal Weaver, President of Louisiana Baptist University

From the Author "And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others" (2 Timothy 2:2). Paul's words to Timothy still apply to us today. There is a need to raise up teachers who will correctly handle and fearlessly teach the Word of God. It is with this hope in mind that the Bible Teacher's Guide (BTG) series has been created. The BTG series includes both expositional studies and topical studies. This guide will be useful for personal devotions, small groups, and for teachers preparing to share God's Word.

About the Author Greg Brown earned his MA in religion and MA in teaching from Trinity International University, a MRE from Liberty University, and a PhD in theology from Louisiana Baptist University. Move forward in your walk with God with this new book By David Wenkel The Bible Teacher's Guide by pastor Greg Brown is a 9 week small-group curriculum that includes both expositional and topical studies. This particular study on the doctrine of God (Theology Proper) is a topical study. Those who use this book will find themselves focused on those doctrines and passages that refer to knowing God, his revelation, his characteristics, and his names. The chapters follow standard systematic theology categories and leaders will be able to correlate each chapter with other resources in their preparation. The lessons are filled with content that presses the reader for transformation, not just information alone. There are practical and pastoral issues addressed in the lessons. For example, the serious matter of depression is tied to one's knowledge of God and his word. Greg also draws on his own wealth of pastoral experience in his applications and illustrations. Each chapter concludes with substantive review questions and prayer prompts. I commend this book to small group leaders and missionaries because this book will definitely challenge and grow the reader in their knowledge of the bible and Christian doctrine.(I received a free copy for an honest review)

By Sage Park This book will help you understand the majority of God's characteristics with the intent of aiding you in developing an intimate relationship with Him. It is not only perfect for a daily devotional activity but also for a small group Bible study because of its detailed description of each topic based on a great use of Scripture. I personally enjoyed every page of this book because I could gain more biblical knowledge that is closely related to my personal relationship with God and my spiritual growth. Therefore, I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking for ways to gain more knowledge about God and His Kingdom and who wants to study the Scripture in a systematic and organized manner.

The author writes that knowing God is the 'summum bonum' or the "highest good out of which all other good flows". With that introduction in mind, the author candidly writes in a way that is practical and applicable to one's Christian life. As one of the Bible Teacher's Guide (BTG), this book is not only excellent for personal study, but also in small groups. There are also reflection questions and sample prayers you can use in your small groups as well. I thought that it was insightful that the author poses very good questions that readers might come across while reading. I highly recommend it!

And I have read a lot of herobrine books, but this was the best!I don't know how you got those pictures, but they actually fit in with the story, so you obviously made them yourself somehow. They were really good pictures! And you made herobrine seem less like a machine, and more like a person. You gave him feelings, and he actually was weak and hurt sometimes, like any normal person, but he was overpowered at the same time! And you are a new writer!? You have AMAZING talent!
