What is the highest good in life that anyone can pursue? In Latin, there is a term summum bonum, which means “the highest good out of which all good flows.” Many pursue wisdom, social justice, wealth, power, or physical strength as the highest good in life. However, none of these compare to the benefits of knowing God. Listen to what the Lord said through the prophet Jeremiah: Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me. Jeremiah 9:23-24 The highest pursuit in life is a deep and intimate knowledge of God, and it is from this intimate knowledge that every good thing flows. Love, joy, peace, perseverance, patience, forgiveness, and anything else that is good flows from knowing God. Let us pursue a deeper knowledge of God together with the aid of the Bible Teacher’s Guide. “Expositional, theological, and candidly practical! I highly recommend the Bible Teacher’s Guide for anyone seeking to better understand or teach God’s Word.” —Dr. Young-Gil Kim, Founding President of Handong Global University “This study could be used by pastors as an aid for sermon preparation, by small group leaders, or by any believer who wants to understand and apply God’s Word personally. I can’t imagine any student of Scripture not benefiting by this work.” —Steven J. Cole, Pastor, Flagstaff Christian Fellowship, Author of the Riches from God’s Word series

From the Author "And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others" (2 Timothy 2:2). Paul's words to Timothy still apply to us today. There is a need to raise up teachers who will correctly handle and fearlessly teach the Word of God. It is with this hope in mind that the Bible Teacher's Guide (BTG) series has been created. The BTG series includes both expositional studies and topical studies. This guide will be useful for personal devotions, small groups, and for teachers preparing to share God's Word.

Move forward in your walk with God with this new book By David Wenkel The Bible Teacher's Guide by pastor Greg Brown is a 9 week small-group curriculum that includes both expositional and topical studies. This particular study on the doctrine of God (Theology Proper) is a topical study. Those who use this book will find themselves focused on those doctrines and passages that refer to knowing God, his revelation, his characteristics, and his names. The chapters follow standard systematic theology categories and leaders will be able to correlate each chapter with other resources in their preparation. The lessons are filled with content that presses the reader for transformation, not just information alone. There are practical and pastoral issues addressed in the lessons. For example, the serious matter of depression is tied to one's knowledge of God and his word. Greg also draws on his own wealth of pastoral experience in his applications and illustrations. Each chapter concludes with substantive review questions and prayer prompts. I commend this book to small group leaders and missionaries because this book will definitely challenge and grow the reader in their knowledge of the bible and Christian doctrine.(I received a free copy for an honest review)

By Sage Park This book will help you understand the majority of God's characteristics with the intent of aiding you in developing an intimate relationship with Him. It is not only perfect for a daily devotional activity but also for a small group Bible study because of its detailed description of each topic based on a great use of Scripture. I personally enjoyed every page of this book because I could gain more biblical knowledge that is closely related to my personal relationship with God and my spiritual growth. Therefore, I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking for ways to gain more knowledge about God and His Kingdom and who wants to study the Scripture in a systematic and organized manner.

The author writes that knowing God is the 'summum bonum' or the "highest good out of which all other good flows". With that introduction in mind, the author candidly writes in a way that is practical and applicable to one's Christian life. As one of the Bible Teacher's Guide (BTG), this book is not only excellent for personal study, but also in small groups. There are also reflection questions and sample prayers you can use in your small groups as well. I thought that it was insightful that the author poses very good questions that readers might come across while reading. I highly recommend it!
