A wonderful book for Family time, with Illustrations to color, Fables to read, & The Moral of each to kick start conversations By Jackie Cooper Included in this book are 22 of the most beloved Aesop’s Fables each about a paragraph long, and the moral of the fable is also included on one page, then the fable is imaginatively depicted in a full page to color comprised of large details so that even crayons will work with this coloring book. As I looked through this book for the first time, it brought back memories of my childhood, sitting on the couch with my grandmother as she read Aesop’s Fables to me.These fables kick start some lively communication and conversations with the grandchildren at my house. Such a wonderful book for quality family time, filled with timeless moral lessons to learn in fable form.1. 22 illustrations printed one per page, however the back of each page has the text of one of Aesop’s Fables and the moral of the fable, so colored pencils or crayons are a good choice for this book.2. The Fables /Morals included in this book are:a. The Hare and the Tortoise/Slow and steady wins the race.b. The Fox and the Stork/Don’t complain when others treat you as you treat them.c. The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse/A simple life without worries is better than a rich life full of cares.d. The Lapdog and the Donkey/ Always be yourself and do not foolishly imitate others.e. The Fox and the Grapes/When people can’t get what they want because of their own inabilities, they often pretend they didn’t want it anyway.f. The Dog and his shadow/Be satisfied with what you have.g. Belling the Cat/It is easier to propose a plan than to put it into action.h. The Rooster and the Jewel/ Beauty without usefulness is sometimes undesirable.i. The Boy and the Figs/Greed often hinders success.j. The Wind and the Sun/Persuasion is better than force, and a kind and gentle manner will get quicker results than threats.k. The Kid and the Wolf/It’s easy to be brave when you are far from danger.l. The Dove and the Ant/One good turn deserves another.m. The Vine grower and his sons/Hard work is man’s greatest treasure.n. The young Mouse, the Rooster and the Cat/Don’t be deceived by grand appearances.o. The boy who cried wolf./If you tell a lot of lies, no one will believe you even when you tell the truth.p. The Fox and the Woodman/Action speaks louder than words.q. The Fortune Teller/Those who practice deception are often most easily deceived.r. The Peacock and the Crane/Those who are most conceited often have the least cause.s. The old Man and his sons/In unity there is strengtht. The Lion and the Mouse/Kindness is seldom thrown away, and there is no creature so small that he cannot return a good deed.u. The Fox and the Crow/Those who listen to false flatterers must pay the price.v. The Maid and the Pail of milk/Don’t count your chickens until they’re hatched.
