This book provides a detailed description of the process by which Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon. Drawing from firsthand accounts of Joseph himself and the scribes who served with him, From Darkness unto Light explores the difficulties encountered in bringing forth this book of inspired scripture. Recent insights and discoveries from the Joseph Smith Papers project have provided a fuller, richer understanding of the translation and publication of the Book of Mormon. This book helps readers understand that the coming forth of the Book of Mormon was a miracle. Faith and belief are necessary ingredients for one to come to know that Joseph Smith performed the work of a seer in bringing the sacred words of the Book of Mormon from darkness unto light.

10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Informative and fun to read By R. McMullin My brother-in-law and his son were talking about this book a while back, and it piqued my interest. I really enjoyed reading about the process of translation and publication of the Book of Mormon. The authors used source material from those who supported the effort, and from those who strongly opposed it.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. An engaging eye-witness account of the translation of the Book of Mormon By Amazon Customer This tells the story of the translating of the Book of Mormon based upon extensive research into the LDS church's Joseph Smith Papers project. There are little known facts here not often told in the LDS narrative. For example, EB Grandin gouged Joseph Smith. I won't tell more, but it's definitely worth the read. If you want to know what really happened based upon contemporary eye witness accounts and not the fuzzy recollections of hearsay evidence, you'll definitely want to get this book and read it.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. The best and most up-to-date history on the subject By Bruce F. Webster The authors, drawing upon the massive research produced by the Joseph Smith Papers project, have written the clearest, most detailed, and most accurate account of the production of the Book of Mormon. Those who seek to offer their own explanations must account for the historical references used herein.
