Review "If beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy, then the histories and recipes in this delightful manual prove he also supplies us the means of better appreciating his divine favor! Or did I mean flavor?" (Elizabeth Scalia, author of Strange Gods 2015-06-01)"Cheers to Sarah Vabulas, the saintly genius behind the fabulous "Catholic Drinkie" apostolate, for penning a book which reminds us that faith, like a great beer, is meant to be savored and shared. Packed full of history, spirituality, and - yes! - homebrew pointers, The Catholic Drinkie’s Guide to Homebrewed Evangelism calls us each to embrace our own unique role in the New Evangelization. Buy two! This book, like your favorite brew, is too great to keep to yourself!" (Lisa M. Hendey, founder of CatholicMom.com and author of The Grace of Yes 2015-06-01)"A must-read for anyone who takes faith, socializing, fun, and spiritual life seriously! Sarah's joy in her faith and her affection for a well-made beer or a fine mixed drink will warm your heart and cause you to raise your glass to faith!" (Bonnie Rodgers, Director, CatholicTV Network 2015-06-01)"The Catholic Drinkie’s Guide to Homebrewed Evangelism is a glimpse into the Church from a fresh, rarely explored angle. This delightful book will renew your appreciation for two of God’s greatest gifts to humanity: the Catholic Church and good beer." (Jennifer Fulwiler, author of Something Other Than God and host of the Jennifer Fulwiler Show 2015-06-01)"Evangelization can happen anytime and anywhere. Sarah Vabulas traces how she found her calling in lifting the hearts of the downtrodden while lifting a pint with them. This modern example of witnessing the faith will satisfy your thirst and leave a lingering hoppy flavor." This is a book that gets at the heart of our Catholic faith in a way that's delightful and sure to inspire you to share the book and your faith. Prepare yourself for a book that's as good as a good drink!" (Sarah Reinhard, author and writer, SnoringScholar.com 2015-06-01)"The Catholic Drinkie’s Guide to Homebrewed Evangelism makes me thirst for a good drink as well as a good conversation about Jesus. Sarah Vabulas' book reminds me of the best of what it means to be Catholic. While being able to enjoy the fermented fruits of our labors, we still have to do the work in God's vineyard. Thank you, Jesus, for evangelization and beer!" (Marcel LeJeune, assistant director of Campus Ministry at St. Mary's Catholic Center, Texas A&M 2015-06-01)

By Father Schnippel Bringing together her two loves of Catholicism and beer, Sarah Vabulas offers this very unique contribution to the New Evangelization of bringing the Gospel alive in a new and exciting way. Beginning with her own personal story, she weaves in the history of the Catholic Church and alcohol (hello, GK Chesterton!) before giving a quick synopsis of religious orders who operate breweries (with an overview of their more popular products.)Did you know the best beer in the world is brewed by Trappist monks, for example? But it is also more than just a memoir and historical book, this book is also a 'how to' for beginning homebrewers in the rapidly expanding gallon batch size, instead of the more typical five gallon batches that most homebrew website and books deal with.As a fellow homebrewer, Sarah's love for unique and fun flavors comes across in the recipes included in the back half of the book, many of which do not have commercial examples (A lemon mint pale ale instead of a summer shandy? Yes, Please!)This unique book related in a unique voice is wonderful addition to the growing segment of Catholic literature that is aimed to teh popular culture as well. It is beautifully laid out and the recipes are easy to follow for even the most beginner of homebrewers while teaching even older pros new tips and tricks with recipe formulation.

A friendly introduction to home brews -- and evangelization, too By Maria Johnson Vabulas weaves personal stories of evangelization through stories on the lives of saints and holy people, breweries, information on varieties of alcoholic beverages, and a collection of recipes that both instructs and entertains. She’s like the neighborhood bartender — mixes a great drink for you, serves it beautifully, and then leans on the bar with a smile and an open heart to engage, really engage, in conversations about faith, inspiration, and the Gospel.
