Nancy Rynes was riding her bicycle when a large SUV approached. The vehicle’s driver, absorbed in texting while driving, plowed right into Rynes.
Suffering from severe spinal and head injuries, Rynes knew she was dying. At that moment, she underwent the first of two life-changing near-death experiences—her consciousness split between her frightened, injured self laying on the road, and an impartial, peaceful observer-consciousness who watched as first responders fought to keep her alive. Her second, more lengthy near-death experience came days later, during the surgery that attempted to repair her traumatized spine.
Rynes, a scientist and confirmed skeptic, was shown the wonders of Heaven, experiencing joy, love, and beauty on such a grand scale that she wept at its magnitude. She then met and spoke with a Being who gave her insights into life, love, and the wonders of Spirit. After her tour of Heaven, she was returned to her body to begin the long, slow process of recovering from injuries her surgeon affirms should have killed her.
In Awakenings from the Light, Rynes recounts the amazing sights of Heaven, and explains the remarkable insights into life she returned with to share with others. She was gifted with a second chance—a precious opportunity to bring a little bit of Heaven into her life on Earth. The wisdom she passes on could well change your life as well.
“You have expressed your story so clearly, and positively that I can feel that love floating off the page. Bless you. “ Richard V.
“Nancy, thank you for sharing this. I have heard a number of NDEs before but have believed none to this point primarily because they were told by attention seekers. I don't believe that is the case here. I've never heard it explained so well…Thank you for bolstering my faith.” Lou B.

About the Author
Nancy Rynes was raised on a small farm near Woodstock, Illinois and is currently a writer and artist residing near Boulder, Colorado.
Born Roman Catholic, Rynes became an atheist, and later an agnostic, beginning in her late teens when she went to university to study geology and archaeology. While she began her education as an artist at Chicago's American Academy of Art, she went on to earn a BSc in geology from Northern Illinois University, then attended the University of Colorado, Boulder, for Masters-level coursework. The sciences taught her to base her views only on things that were measurable. Since Spirit was not measurable, it did not exist in her view.
The skepticism remained until January of 2014 when Spirit gave Rynes a wake-up call in the form of a tragic accident. Since her near-death experience, she has returned to a more spiritual and creative life based on the wisdom she learned in Heaven.
In the past, Rynes has been an archeological artist, geologist, and data analyst, and science/technical writer. But then Heaven threw her a curveball, one she feels she desperately needed. Now, she writes books about Spirit, what happens when we die, and how we can bring a little bit of "Heaven" to our lives on Earth.

By MagnoliaJane I have read literally dozens of NDE books since Raymond Moody's came out in the 70's. Rynes is a writer and I expected "more of a story." Instead, this book is more "Lectures on Faith and Love". Not bad. Good advice. Important things, to be sure. But, just not much new in her experience. I don't mean to disparage the author's story, or her efforts. What her spirit guide/s gave her was for her benefit, and by writing she's fulfilling their admonitions to her. If I hadn't read so many other books, I'd be less "picky". I'll read and ponder the wisdom of her book, for it does have much to say that's important about living our lives.I would recommend, to a "seeking person," or a recently bereaved person who is looking for comfort, to look for different books. I'll list a couple of my favorites, even though it may not be 100% fair to this author. I first discovered NDEs and the comfort they can give to me, even second-hand, because of the deaths of two of my own children while they were babies...I wanted to know "Where did they go?"=="To Heaven and Back" by Mary C. Neale Great experience, good wisdom to pass on. She's an M.D. in Jackson Hole, WY.=="Proof of Heaven" by Eben Alexander Kind of a "new age" style heavenly experience, from a neurosurgeon...very extensive.==John Lerma, (hospice physician in Texas, has published two books on bedside visions of the dying that could be helpful) "Into the Light" and "Learning from the Light".==Crystal McVea "Waking Up in Heaven: A True Story of Brokenness, Heaven and Life Again"...esp recommended to anyone who's had an abortion in their past, or experienced childhood sexual abuse.==Jeff Olsen He has 2 books, 2 years apart. Especially strong on marriage bonds and seeing his dead child in heaven.==One more(for the Christian diehards! You'll know who you are.) Howard Storm's "Descent Into Death" in which he experiences hell, redemption, Jesus, and angels. It's all there! All these books: believe or don't believe, but I don't see the sense of arguing w/anyone's stated experience, as I've seen some authors try to do, when they write a so-called "rebuttal".To the author: please know that your book is full of good things! I've read it and will continue to read it. Your story is amazing...and you really, logically, "should not be alive." I'm glad that you are, and for your message. Thank you.

I am also an avid reader NDE books. I study them and unfortunately I am often disappointed in them. Some are poorly written. Some promise to tell you what they learned from their NDE but never quite get there. Some skim the facts of their experience and only give you the interpretation of their experience. This book is different. It provides the facts, details about the NDE, words said directly from her guide and then the author's interpretation of her NDE. I appreciate that approach. I have read as many books about NDEs as are written. It seems like I have watched every YouTube video about NDE's and I have to say this book is one of my favorites. The author imparts more hands-on knowledge from her NDE than most NDE authors who I have seen or read. The writing is clear and concrete and I have gained much spiritual knowledge from this book. In general, I don't take everything I read as fact but I am open minded and I find this book to be pleasurable, honest and useful. Thank you for writing it and thank your guide for her suggestion to write it. This is one of those books that you will remember and that will make a positive difference in your day to day life. At least it has for mine.

By Stella Carrier Awakenings From The Light; 12 Life Lessons From A Near Death Experience by Nancy Rynes capture the intrinsic nature of the author’s journey after her near death experience. In Chapter 4, She describes her meeting with her Guide and how she remembered her to look ; Her Guide emanated love and did not appear as someone she knew from her current life. The guide had a slim figure and wore long brown wavy hair that fell almost to her waist. The fabric was a long sleeved tunic type of shirt that draped gracefully around her and she either was wearing a long skirt or full drapey pants (Rhynes couldn’t make out which but the clothing looked like either what she lists to be nicely worn-in linen or linen mixed with silk). On page 102 she also shares information on seeing the spirit within others and treating others with love and respect while also taking care not to abuse or mistreat others as well as not allowing others to mistreat or abuse you. She talks about building more connections on page 103 (which is something I reluctantly admit to still being in the process of working on due to the fact that I’m heart-centered but I’m learning to be more outgoing). The chapter on listen to your inner wisdom (chapter 13) is also healing because she addresses that it is actually understandable and encouraged to sometimes analyze if there is truth in a certain fear while separating that from unfounded fear. There is also information pertaining to love and gratitude for ourselves as well as gratitude for tough times (pages 180 and 181). Chapter 15 touches on how each person’s choices can greatly factor into their creative power and reality (something which I reluctantly admit to still being in the process of working on as I know from experience firsthand what she means after my life dramatically changed after I voluntarily chose to leave a financially comfortable and safe navy career in order to chase a career dream and what I felt was best to maintain a lasting marriage because my husband does mean the world to me). Obviously, there is much more to this book than what I just mentioned.
