After reading Gospel of Sri Ramakarishna, if one wants to know more about this pure soul, then this is the book with many details and events.

For anyone who wanted to know the teachings of the saint By monica While the biography of Sri Ramakrishna has received a lot of publicity, and is wonderful reading for an initial understanding of the bhakti saint, it is written as a diary and to that extent sometimes leaves the reader a little unsure of the motivation or significance of the sometimes enigmatic saint.This book interprets events and actions through the eyes of the direct disciple of Sri Ramakrishna. Seemingly small actions and even miraculous events are linked and/or interpreted according to the scriptures for the reader who has no Vedic background. Thereby leaving the sense of awe that would otherwise have been missing if one had read merely an account of the event. But the best part of this book is that the learning behind each experience has been clearly elucidated, and it is this that transforms the book form another biography into a religious text on bhakti.This book shows a bhakta practising the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita continuously throughout his life.The book is long but the Kindle version at least is organized into short chapters and sections, for the most part in chronological order, that allow the reader to go directly to the section of interest.For any practitioners of bhakti or meditation who may have had watered down experiences similar to the Paramhansa, they will be able to relate to the depth of devotion in this man. And surely they will find his interpretation of those experiences that directly relate them to the Vedanta very valuable.While M's biography was objective in keeping with it's style of a journal, it is clear from Swami Saradananda's overflowing emotion that he too must have been of the bhakta temperament.I strongly recommend this book to bhaktas...I have no doubt they will be transported "upward" by the sheer force of love for Devi that possessed Sri Ramakrishna. But I also think that one of a gnani temperament could better understand a mad devotion without dismissing it as easily as the great Swami Vivekananda once did.
