1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A well considered and thought-provoking rendition of the New Testament By Antoninvs I enjoy the conversational quality employed by the translator. This translation engages the reader both intellectually and emotionally which is exactly what any good bible should do.When one aspires to the lofty task of translating the word of God, there are many potential pitfalls. For example, the theological bias of the translator may overshadow linguistic considerations. Introducing doctrine to the Scriptures does great injustice to the inspired Word of God.Here the translator has resisted the temptation to introduce a narrow theology. This very readable version of the New Testament gives a concept for concept, context for context, rendition of the original Greek text. It captures the spirit of what is being said and transmits ideas seamlessly into the modern vernacular.There are many words that I could use to describe this translation such as, accurate, modern, faithful, etc. However, if I were only allowed to use one word, it would be "respectful". Reading this version of the Greek Scriptures gives me the impression that the translator was very mindful of doing justice to God's word and approached his task with respect and reverence. While this translation is less formal than many, it retains a decorous tone throughout making it a thoroughly enjoyable to read.This translation is nothing like Latinate versions that purposely maintain a sense of gravitas. Nor is it a "dumbed down" version in order to pander to the generational mindset. It is less formal, but not overfamiliar so as to detract from the inherent power of God's Word. For this reason its audience and appeal are universal.I wish to thank Mr Faircloth for his efforts. His translation is lively, well considered and engaging, his notes enlightening. The overall layout is very easy to follow. I have personally spoken to Mr Faircloth about his version of the NT and I am fully convinced that he agonised over it and felt the weight of doing justice to the Scriptures. It was a real labour of love! I thoroughly recommend this translation.
