I was impressed by the advice for momma's struggling with how to explain this new change to their toddler. I love how it is broken up to include helpful tips for every member of the family. The first section is great to read to a struggling child. It has some great illustrations that the child can relate to. The middle section of the book has a great emphasis on the mother/child bond that is associated with nursing, and some of the emotions you'll be faced with, and how to overcome them. The end of the book talks about different ways you can maintain that special bond you have with your child even after she is weaned. Overall, 5 stars and would recommend it to a friend!*A copy of this book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review*

I felt it tackled the common "emotional problems" young kids experience when they start to wean from breast feeding. The incident of the child throwing her cup down in anger was spot on in my opinion. I felt that part of the story truly did capture the emotional viewpoint of the child. My experience as a Mother of a young boy that was weaned showed me it is the fear of losing parental closeness that bothers the child the most. Your story did an amazing job at discussing this.The book was well written and in the form of how the child feels regarding the weaning process. I feel this will help children and parents relate better to the story. I felt the positive encouragement given by the parents to the child was a great way to encourage the children who may hear this story. The use of child friendly names for the mother's breasts such as "milkies" was another great way to help the child going through the weaning process to relate to the character.The time line of the weaning process for the character also depicts the time line of feedings for children, which I felt would also help the reader to relate to the character. This book really captures the emotional aspect of what the child going through the weaning process.The bonus section of the book was another favorite part of the story for me because it gives suggestions on activities the parent and child can do together. I felt this book is wonderful the way it is now and does a fantastic job at capturing the experience a child and parent will go through during the difficult weaning process.I will recommend this to my friends.

By latasha pitts I just finished reading "I'm a Weaned Kid Now" and I enjoyed it. I nursed both of my boys until they were almost 2 years of age so I can certainly relate to the weaning process. This book seems to tailored towards "older" children like Chole who is 2.5 years old. This is fine because older toddlers need help with weaning too. A younger child may not understand the book as well. This book seems to serve a dual purpose: parent/child reading time and child weaning confidence. I really enjoy how the author explains how Chole feels, teaches respect of the parents and the consequences of behaviour. I also like he weaning affirmations and the activities at the end of the book. This book gives a parent a working base to start with before and after the introduction of the book. My only gripe is that I would have liked to see even more pictures as I'm highly visual. Thanks for producing a great book.*A copy of this book was provided in exchange for an honest review.
