At the end of book 4, enjoyable as it was, I felt the Storm of Dogs was no closer to coming than at at the end of book 1. But in this book, The Endless Lake, things take a darker turn. I'm starting to speculate on how things will play out in book 6. The dogs find themselves by a lake that stretches forever into the distance, ceaselessly beating the shoreline. Strange yellow dirt that crumbles and that paws sink into covers the ground, hiding the Earth-Dog's brown fur. On a wooden road that reaches over the Endless Lake, bizarre longpaw objects stretch into the sky. This, for one reason or another, is where Alpha has decided to move his pack. The Fierce Dogs are determined to get Storm back, and some of the Wild Pack dogs would be willing to give her up. Storm faces so many challenges, trying to overcome the circumstances of her birth, and not to give in to her Fierce Dog nature. I'm an Alpha fan, and I have been since he was first introduced in book 2. Alpha's Tale only reaffirmed my hopes that he had some good in him. So many times we've seen a glimpse of a gentler side, one that makes Alpha just as dog as Lucky is. But I think he carries too much hurt from the past. I've held my hopes, though. In this book, however, he makes a decision that slices my hope into shreds. I'm wondering if he can ever change, and be the dog that Storm is. Fierce, but kind. Commanding, but gentle. Being who they are, without embracing the hate and anger fate gave them. I'll hold out for you, Alpha. But it's going to take a lot on your part to reconcile with Lucky and Storm especially. Can't you see that you don't have to be what everyone says you are, that you can show them that you are better than that? You have it in you, Alpha. I believe in you. I highly recommend that you read Alpha's Tale before this book. Technically, it can be read at anytime because it is a stand-alone book, but I think to best understand Alpha it should be read after book 4, The Broken Path, and before book 5, The Endless Lake. This was an amazing book, and a must-read for a Survivors fan. Out of the three Erin Hunter series (Survivors, Seekers, and Warriors), Survivors is my favorite by far. So if you're looking for a new series, you should definitely check out book 1, The Empty City. The stories of brave dogs are so fascinating, and I love the lore. I don't think you'll be disappointed with this series! Until Book 6, The Storm of Dogs. I can't believe we're here already, but at the same time Feburary 10, 2015 seems a lifetime away! 8 months is a long time to wait to see what happens to your favorite dogs.... but again, I don't want book 6, the conclusion, to come and be over with too quickly! Let us hope there will be a second series, or maybe Super Editions. What do you say, Gillian Phillip/Inbali Iserles?

Thrilling action, with great suspense upon every page, Erin Hunter created yet another amazing read. The cliffhanger ending makes me hungry for the next book in the series, as well as excited. It shows how dogs can change, how Storm changed. That just because you were born of a certain custom/belief/way, that you are the one who decides if you weren't meant to be of that. That you can change. As I read the last few chapters, my eyes were wide, and my heart was thumping wildly against my chest. And as a dog or wolf would say; my tongue lolled out, between my deadly white fangs, as I read with great anticipation, my tail still wags at the remembrance of this wooftastic read!**SPOILER ALERT**When we all thought Alpha was dead, that the Endless Lake took him forever, I definitely felt great pity upon the half wolf. Though he allowed dignity to cloud his vision and choices sometimes, I had read Alpha's Tale, (which, by the way, made me cry) so I understood who the real Alpha was. Who Dog really is. Who Wolf really is. Both of his halves. When the huge plot twist occurred, of not only was Alpha alive, but Omega to Blade's pack, I felt almost as betrayed as the Wild Dogs! But again, from reading Alpha's Tale, I knew he understood the way of the Fierce Dogs, and was put up with what he thought of as his Weak Pack. His vision was clouded, for he took the wrong dogs' side. However, I feel as if we must give Alpha a break! His life was so tough!Overall, this was a beautifully written read, with many twists and turns, and parts where you'd hold your breath. I am so excited and look forward to read the 6th book of this series-which is my favorite by Erin Hunter.GREAT JOB, ERIN!-Wolf & Dog lover :)

After a few minutes, I figured that I just needed a break from the series. However, I wouldn't declare myself a fan. I was surprised when Alpha spoke about Fiery. I thought that he was going to be disrespectful. I'm glad that Bella didn't end up as the new Alpha because, she has made a terrible decision as a leader before. I'm really liking Storm. Not only was I fearing for her for a few chapters, I really like she has some individuality. Even though I like Lucky's idea for democracy, I knew it wouldn't last enough. Not only do dogs need structure, but the Erins are used to writing dictatorships into their novels. The pack list needs a little updating. This novel was a bit unrealistic. Not only do dogs only use teeth and jaws to fight, not all of them know how to howl. While I'm not usually fazed by violence and lurid descriptions, I couldn't help thinking that children should not be reading this. When I read that Alpha had returned, I was thinking ,"Either these people have read a little too much manga or they believe that trolling your audience makes for good writing." Overall, this is a great book.
