Soon life’s pilgrimage will end. All children of God will face Jesus at His Judgment Seat. Will it be an awards podium, with some receiving more rewards, some less? What about negative reward? Is that a possibility? If so, what does it suggest about how we should live our lives here and now? The author deals with the largely neglected doctrine of rewards, warning from the Scriptures that our Judgment Seat verdict (positive or negative) will determine our place in His kingdom. He addresses numerous challenging questions, such as … • How is salvation of the soul distinguished from salvation of the spirit? • When Jesus warned, “What shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” was He speaking to the lost or to the saved? • Will all believers have equal standing in the age to come? • Does Outer Darkness really refer to Hell or could it have a bearing on saints? • Are all children of God automatically included as part of Christ’s bride? • Who will rule and reign with Christ? • Who are the overcomers in the New Testament and to whom do the rewards for overcomers apply? • How do we prepare to meet Jesus and hear the words, Well done?

This book is a great introductory text to the doctrine of rewards By Marty Cauley Hollandsworth has done a splendid job of communicating advanced topics concerning heavenly rewards in such a way that the general reader will have no problem understanding the material by simply reading his book: The End of the Pilgrimage. This book is a great introductory text to the doctrine of rewards. Indeed, I bought an extra copy to give to our pastor in hopes that he might consider using Hollandsworth’s book in this capacity for our church. As Hollandsworth explains, all believers have a regenerate spirit and will have a redeemed body, but not all believers are waging successful spiritual warfare in relation to the soul in order to experience the salvation of their souls at the Bema. Hollandsworth provides a solid foundation for waging this war successfully by learning to rely on the Holy Spirit’s presence in us and our position in Christ. He uses this spirit-versus-soul hermeneutic to explain how believers can be forgiven at one plane or level, but not at another plane or level, thereby easily answering questions that have confused many. His discussion of the outer darkness in relation to the Reward City will be easily-grasped by the novice. Even advanced readers will find his discussion interesting, as he makes some innovative suggestions in this regard concerning Jacob’s latter and why Matthew uses the phrase kingdom of the heavens. His assessment of Heb 12:23 even anticipates a conclusion that I have reached during the past year pertaining to the connection between the Reward City and outer darkens, but I have not yet put that analysis into print in my Misthological Models. Hollandsworth is on the cutting edge, therefore, in following the implications of his model to their logical and biblical conclusions. Moreover, Hollandsworth’s discussion of the second death will be helpful for my own Misthological Models. In these models, I have shown that soteric-mistholic litotes are subject to limited inversion. Not being hurt by the second death in Rev 2:11 is one such example. Writing at the popular level, Hollandsworth does not embroil himself in such technicalities, of course. Nevertheless, he does offer a plausible explanation that would be very attractive competing or complementary model to my own for this particular litotes. A Scripture index is included, making it an easy to reference resource.

By Sean Cowland I am very grateful for this book for a couple reasons. First, I believe that many Christians are not being taught properly concerning the Judgment Seat of Christ, if being taught it at all!Second, in struggling with some of the tough passages in scripture that this book tackles, such as "outer darkness", "Gehenna", the rewards mentioned to the seven Churches, to name a few... I have never really been satisfied with the direction many commentators have taken them to mean (Unsatisfying and still questionable in the end!).Hollandsworth , I believe, in this book is going to open up many people to new concepts that they may not have thought of or been taught before! There are a few concepts that he mentions that I am still studying and meditating on to come to a conclusion in my own mind about. However, many of the concepts he touches on have not only made sense to me, but have really opened the door in understanding other tough passages along the way! He does not just state what he believes but he backs it up at every turn with other scripture which really helps to bring it to light, and makes it tougher to just blow off as nonsense!I highly recommend this book to EVERY Christian!

We need to be reminded that we (all Christians) will one day stand before the Lord at the Judgment Seat to give account of our lives. Weather we will have the privilege of ruling and reigning with our Lord in His coming millennial kingdom depends on how we live our lives now. Pastor Hollandsworth has done a great job teaching "Kingdom" truths. These truths were preached many years ago, however, not to today's Christians.
